That was my reaction today while I was at the park. Boy it was really crowded!!!! Just to give you an idea of what goes on......
Monday - The Stonewall Brigade Band Tuesday - Praise in the Park Wednesday - Bluegrass Jamboree Thursday - Jazz in the Park Friday - ??????
But today is Saturday and along with all the regular goings on, there were lots of Little League and Minor League games, there was an Extreme Youth Summer Jam. the Summer Jam is Christian oriented and was hosted totally by youth groups. Pretty cool!!!
I met this great guy there named Tony. Tony is typical of a lot of younger guys today, meaning he has a few earrings and more than a couple tattoos. But since meeting him, I quickly came to learn he is a devoted Christian. Tony told me he came to know Christ through his wife while they were dating and is totally commited to God. When I asked him how long ago that was, I was surprised when he said 12 years!!!!!! What an amazing testimony!!!! Today while talking, Tony pointed out his son on the ball field. Darren is 11 and loves baseball. Tony got us laughing when he told us this story:
When Darren was five, he asked Tony if he was proud of him. Tony said, "Of course!!!" And quoted the first part of the following verse... A good son brings joy to his father..... Proverbs 10:1 Tony said Darren stood there looking for a moment, then went to the kitchen. A few minutes later, Darren came back and handed Tony a bottle of dish detergent and asked. " Daddy, I don't see any Joy, is this Dawn OK?"
You know, kids truly are a treasure from God. I value my time with Allen and Abby. They are such a hoot sometimes it is not even funny.
Well I guess I had better get out of here and get some rest. I will be home tomorrow and I know my kids will wear me out. I can't wait.......
