The Pit Stop

O.K.  coming out of the closet here to say that I used to be a major NASCAR fan.  When we were in Indiana, we were 1.5 hours from Michigan International Speedway, and 1.5 hours from Indianapolis.   When NASCAR came to Michigan twice per year, we would go watch them practice and qualify.  We watched an ARCA race in person once -- never could afford a Winston Cup (as it was called then) race.  The Brickyard was incredibly expensive, but one year we did some mission work with Sports Spectrum outside the speedway for the Bickyard race.   

I was a huge Geoff Bodine Fan -- I loved QVC - and he drove the QVC car for several years.  We got to meet him once and even toured his shop in North Carolina.  Not to mention that in my attic, I have a genuine racing tire from one of Geoff's cars that he ran at the Brickyard several years ago.

Anyway, I once heard of church being compared to a NASCAR pit stop -- and that analogy fit my situation perfectly today.

O.K.  So we're all out there on the track running the race of life-- getting beat up, banged up, stressed out, etc.  Then it's pit stop time.  We come in, get our tanks filled, get fresh tires, make a few adjustments, and get the bugs cleaned off our windshields and get right back out there in the race of life.

Today I needed a pit stop.  I was running out of gas.  My tires were worn down, and I had a gazillion bugs smashed on my windshield -- I could barely see through the windshield.  I needed a  little attitude adjustment as well.

I think my pit crew at Living Truth did a great job today.  The worship was great - helped pump my tires.   The mission trip testimony time was awesome -- gave me that little attitude adjustment I needed.  And then today's message - gave me the gas I needed AND cleaned the bugs off my windshield.  I can see things alot more clearly now.

I'm back on the track this afternoon -- ready to run the race -- 

12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,

Holy cow...the preacher that we heard on the radio this morning was preadching on the SAME scripture!!! 

I KNOW it's something that I needed to hear, because lately my weeks have been about like yours!!!

I LOVE it when God reveals himself to us in MORE than one way a day....for me it's typically the SAME message though!!  (I guess sometimes I'm a little slow)

Well...here's to a MUCH better week for the BOTH of us!!
