3:7 Wherefore, even as the Holy Spirit saith, To-day if ye shall hear his voice, 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness, 3:9 Where your fathers tried `me' by proving `me,' And saw my works forty years. 3:10 Wherefore I was displeased with this generation, And said, They do always err in their heart: But they did not know my ways; 3:11 As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest. Personally I was raised in the late sixties early seventies in the shadow of the summer of love, I was about as rebelious as they came, I served six years in the Navy and discovered that a military paycheck could score dope as well as civilian paychecks. I was raised to be a good protestant, and would have conceeded that Christ was a good teacher perhaps, but had no desire to darken the doorstep of any churches.
But thank Jesus when I gave up on him he never gave up on me. By the way after yesterday's BLOG I can't thank you all enough for everyone's support and prayers. But lately I feel that I'm moving against the grain more than I ever did back when I thought I was really a rebel. it seems every where I look somebody's pushin Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll. I think fellowship for myself is very important as it's real easy to want to slip backwards.
My home church really rocks but I have to confess it's not even that easy to find a church these days that believes in the bible. I looked thru the phone book looking for a home church and people in AA & NA of course had varying beliefs, it seems that that there are an awful lot of people trying to worship a god based on what "feels" right. Is it just me or is America more akin to Corinth, or Sodom.
It sure seems that more than ever before we need each other. I really praise God for the brave folks that come down to the projects where I work here in Terre Haute to take the kids to various churches, But I'm thinkin' we all need to be prayin for full scale revival, otherwise us Christians will be peeking out our windows while Meth heads are running the country.
Long story short maybe it's time we rebelled against the rebellion.

"not even that easy to find a church these days that believes in the bible"
Now that's pretty disappointing... I guess we've been very blessed, in this area there does not seem to be such a shortage. I grew up in an excellent Bible-believing church, moved on to another one shortly after we married, and then ended up at another (where we are now) just a few years ago. And there are plenty of others around too, based on friendships we have w/folks not from our church. The issues around here are less what do the churches believe than how they "do church" - i.e. style & format, or superficial differences.
I like your idea Dave, rebel against the rebellion. But that would make us completely un-rebellious, wouldn't it? (they cancel ea other out) Confusing, isn't it. (hehe) |

| It's interesting that the new "counter culture" is the Christian church, isn't it. So, thus, the real rebels are the Christians. |

Thanks yall, mike it does get confusing but 5:23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 5:24 He who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. I'm not sure but I think that's a promise from one who is willing and able to keep it... |
