| All Roads Lead to...Water...and More Water |

I have quite a morning. I had to make a mushroom delivery, a trip that normally takes about an hour and a half one way. This time it took about two hours, one way. Only problem with today's delivery is that every road I tried to take to go north, was covered with water. We had a lot of rain last night. The town to the north of us, apparently had more than we did, and it was partially under water. Every road I tried to take to get through the town was closed because it was under water. I saw some vehicles that had been abandoned, and the water came half way up the window. I finally had to take a route that went up and over the water, and that was a last resort, because the traffic was stop and go (because everyone else was going that way too, and because of road construction.)
What aggravated me most in this whole mess, is the rudeness of other drivers. When I tried to merge onto the highway that went up and over the water, it was down to one lane and barely moving, because of the construction. The right lane was open at the point where I entered the highway, but it was the one that was closing, so everyone had to get over into the left lane. Do you think anyone would let me in to that lane? Nope. I had my blinker turned on, waiting patiently for some nice person to let me in. No one. Not one person was nice enough to let me in. I finally had to speed up to get in front of a semi and pull in between him and another semi. Traffic was crawling, and I was not going to get too far ahead of these people that refused to let me in. But they had to be first. I ended up being in front of them and I wanted to say "na, na, I'm in front of you"...but I didn't.
When a simple courtesy like this is ignored, I wonder about people. This world doesn't know the meaning of being courteous of others. I am not saying that all people are like that, but goodness, it is sad that so many are. I wonder if any of you have had experiences like this? Or maybe you have a positive experience, where someone WAS courteous to you. I'd like to hear about it. Maybe I can still have some hope in my fellow man. |
