1:2 Count it all joy, my brethren, when you meet various trials, 1:3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 1:4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

I know one time when I was a kid and I got a bike for christmas I couldn't wait to go out and ride it.  I wish I could say I lept for joy every time I got to practice perserverence or patience.  Now that I think about it the next time one of the guys at the addictions house gives me a chance to "turn the other cheek" I'll thank him for it and see how he responds to that.

I think it's funny that so many people (not you, Trinity) look at the lists of the gifts of the Spirit in the Bible and say/believe that is a comprehensive list of gifts that the Spirit gives, like he gives those and no others. Ha! That's funny! Well, what if I had to give the exact same gifts to people every Christmas, like I had a list of 10 or so items to work off of, the same list every year, year after year. Wouldn't Christmas get boring after a couple of years? Well, who in the world thinks the Spirit of God is any different? The lists in the Bible are more like general categories. Just a thought. Thanks for the blog Trinity_3.  ~mike

Maybe that is why people don't like to come to our house at Christmas!!

I think the manifestation of gifts are different depending the circunstances.  They may be general categories, but when they are in action they act with so much power that it feels like Christmas all over again.  There is so much of God available to us and that humbles me.  Why is God so willing to pour out gifts in our lives?  Because He is a loving giving God.  AND, the awesome thing about God's gifts is that when we received them, we become a gift to the church.

OK all I know is I need to get to opening gifts and playing with them.  I know how I am if I give gifts to people and they just get stuck in the closet.

Now Lourdes that is how to look at it.......God gives out gifts to the ones who can handle that specific gift.  Not everyone has the give or prophecy, not everyone has the give of tongues, or the interpretation of tongues, and so on, I know you all get the idea.

God in his infinite wisdom, knows what we can handle and therefore gives us a gift we can handle.....  Trinity

Has anyone hit a point where God quit giving gifts?
