| How to Customize Your Profile |

Creating a fancy, colorful profile is only slightly more difficult than adding a music player to your profile. First, you have to find a layout that you like, this is probably the most difficult part because there are so many places that offer free layouts. But before you start searching, I do have a word of warning, you do not need to create accounts with these services even though some will make it look like you do. My favorite place for pre-made layouts is http://www.freepagegraphics.com/myspaceartistic/1/ You can also use your favorite search engine to find "Free MySpace Layouts." For the purpose of this tutorial, I'm going to assume you're using freepagegraphics.com. (the first link) Their layouts are sorted by style, beware though, some may not be appropriate for MyChurch. There are also many other websites offering free layouts, here are some search results if you want more places to look: - Browse through the categories on the right side of the page until you find a layout that you want to use.
- To the right of the layout preview you will find a text box with html coding in it. Click inside that box and select and copy the coding.
- Go to your MyChurch page a log in, if you aren't already logged in.
- Click on the Edit Profile link next to your picture
- In the "About Me" window select the HTML link in the upper right corner
- A new window will open. Add a couple of carriage returns (hit the return or enter button) before your "About Me" description
- Paste the code that you copied from the layout page.
- Click on the "Update" button and the HTML window will close
- You are now back to the "Update your profile" page.
- At the bottom of this page, click on the "Submit" button
- Your profile is saved and your are taken to your actual profile page.
If there are parts of your profile that are no longer visible, it is probably because you've selected a profile layout with a black background and the text that you can't see is also black. It's still there, you just can't see it. If this happens, your coding will need to be debugged. I am currently working on .css coding for various parts of the MyChurch profiles to tweak these problems. Contact me and I'll help you get your profile straightened out, however, it could take up to a week for me to find time to do so.
You can also change the look of your blog in the same manner, just paste the code in one of your blog posts. :) |
