| Well, I said I was going to post my lesson on Wed. nites, I only have 1 problem; I didn't really have a lesson.Well,I did,just no notes. Here's wut God told us to do: We started by going outside and played follow the leader. I was the leader and we walked down the busy highway of 61.We jumped over a wall,ducked under some signs,went thru some parking lots etc. Then we stopped. I talked about how it's easy,fun,adventerous, and exciting to follow our friends. I then gave them each a cross and asked them to put it in their pockets and off we went again. We then stopped about a 1/2 mile from the church. I told them that many times we start out following our friends,but some where along the walk we find Jesus,but many of us put Him in our pocket.You see,we feel we can be cool,blend in, AND be a good little christian.We don't have to talk about Jesus much.We don't have to get all excited about Him because our walk with God is personal,quiet,SAFE! After all, we go to church on Wed nites AND sometimes on Sunday.And every school morning we put Jesus back into our "pocket". I had actually driven my wifes car and parked it at our third stop. I then pulled out an 8 foot cross made out of 4x4's.It BIG! It's BULKY! It's HEAVY! You can't hide it! I then talked about how I REALLY think that's what the word of God means when it says to "pick up your cross DAILY and follow Him". If you're REALLY going to carry the cross DAILY, you can't hide it. I gave every kid that wanted to, the opportunity to carry the big,bulky,heavy cross. We walked to one of the busiest intersections in Charleston. While standing on the corner with about 30 or so kids and an 8 foot cross,we got stared at.We got laughed at. We had many people mock us. A few kind people honked for us. You see,if we REALLY carry the cross, then those are some of the responses we are going to get.It's really the same ones Jesus got,minus the honks of course. So my question is this: Are you carrying the cross for ALL to see? Or is Jesus hidden in your "pocket"? Because if you ARE carrying the cross........you can't hide that! |
