| Passion, Purpose, Position |

The limelight of history and contemporary attention so often focus on the "one" rather than the many. Individuals are frequently singled out from their peers and elevated as "greater than." I acknowledge that this kind of attention is one way to identify that which the people admire or hold to be of some value of position. But sometimes that recognition of position may celebrate the wrong values. "I think we should be aware that there can be a spiritual danger to those who misunderstand the singularity of always being in the spotlight. They may come to covet the notoriety and thus forget the significance of the service being rendered. You must not allow yourselves to focus on the fleeting light of popularity or substitute that attractive glow for the substance of true, but often anonymous labor that brings the attention of God even if it does not get coverage on the six o'clock news. In fact, applause and attention can become the spiritual Achilles' heel of even the most gifted among us. At times of attention and visibility it might also be profitable for us to answer the question, Why do we serve? When we understand why, we won't be concerned about where we serve."(Howard W. Hunter) So I encourage you to serve and grow, faithfully and humbled.
6:1 Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. 6:2 When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward. 6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 6:4 that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.
Do not allow yourself to be taken into the hype of popularity. Do not seek position. But instead, understand Why you do what you do? When this is understood, then and only then, is the focus directed in the right direction. And position will come. Seeking to please God not man, in everything that we do.
What is your passion? Position with recognition or Purpose?
Someone who carries out their Purpose with a Passion, even without recognition, obtains Position.
Position is not necessary for someone with Purpose.
(Nothing great in the world has ever been acomplished without passion. -G.W.F. Hegel)

So much truth to this Tabitha! My Dad used to say, "Never get your eyes/focus on a man, because they will fail you everytime. Keep your focus on Jesus, because He can not fail." Love, Donna |

Yes Mrs. Donna... As silly as it may seem, even we fail ourselves at times. You'd think if anybody were to not fail us, it be ourselves. But we are only human. And we all fall short. You are very right, Jesus CANNOT fail. Love you. |

| Thats some good stuff, stay that way and God has great things for you! |

Dr. Thomas, Love that "Discovering your purpose promotes passion and passion never needs position to prove itself." Remember also that "...a man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men..." That is, not that which is sought after, but Yahveh's promotion! We just keep on keeping on and Yahveh takes care of the rest. Love, Donna

Dr- Thank you for the encouragment. I really need that right about now. It's true, humility is a must! I learned that very well this past year. And I found that I was actually more fufilled with my ministry when I did what I did and it went unseen. When I had no intention to "up" my position, is when God's favor was overwhelming the most. Even when you think nobody's watching, God is. And thats the best "watcher" there is...
[[["Discovering your purpose promotes passion and passion never needs position to prove itself." thats exactly what I meant, "Position is not necessary for someone with Purpose."]]]
I don't need a "position", because I have a purpose with or without a position.

Mrs. Donna, That brings to mind Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God, and ALL of these things shall be added unto you."
When we use our gifts and talents to further God's Kingdom and not ourselves, God is faithfull to do His part. |

Tabi, this is some good stuff. When do you have time to get all this? Just kidding. Hey I think this way and most things come out ok. You know me, I am not out to impress anyone. Hey just do the right thing, do it right, and do it because its right.
