Hey Sooz,
As I was reading your post, I was thinking, it is when we offer praise even when we don't feel like it or hate the place we are in that we actually grow in our ability to praise Him.  Then I got to the end of your post and you said "What I am already realizing is the one who will benefit most from maintaining such a positive attitude is me."

It is truly during the dark or difficult times that praising God brings us peace.   When we can't seem to settle our heart He is faithful to hear and comfort.

ps. Is your son a sponge of useless information?  If he is anything like my 14 yr old son, he will retain the most obscure thing you researched together and you will hear about it later.

Glenn, have you been spying on my boy?  We were just teasing him about that very thing last night!  He remembers all sorts of bizarro stuff.  He actually memorizes license plate numbers of our friends.  We thought it was really wierd until we were all vacationing together and they couldn't remember their license plate number when we checked into the hotel.  Our boy came to their rescue.  What an amazing, super-cool, wierdo he is!  The annoying part is when he remembers some sarcastic or stupid thing I say and reminds me about THAT later!

And that is a time to praise God, offering thanks for this goofy kid who uses humor to hold me accountable!

It is so easy to offer praise when things are going well, not so easy to do it when they aren't, but we have to do it anyway.  My experience has shown me, when I don't feel like it is when I most benefit from it.  Thanks for sharing Soozane.
