He's for small government. He wants to get rid of a lot of federal organizations like NAFTA, the IRS, the Board of Education, etc. He wants us to leave Iraq immediately. He voted against the war from the start. He's been a US senator for 10 years and has always voted according to the original intent of the constitution  except the sixteenth amendment (ratified in 1913 to give the govt power to charge income tax). He wants to protect the internet from regulation. He's pro-life as a result of being a gynecologist for many years and delivering thousands of babies and understanding fetal development. He wants to change our monetary policy and get rid of the Federal Reserve and to go back to something similar to the gold standard, except it would be more like a "hard asset standard." You may already know this, but the Federal Reserve is very secretive and is controlled by Wall Street bankers...it's actually a private entity. When they print money they depreciate the value of the dollar and so basically it's a tax in disguise. It benefits only the people who have connections and can get a hold of the new money first.

Ron Paul supports low taxes and reducing government spending by getting rid of some big govt bureaucracies, getting us out of Iraq, and changing our interventionist foreign policy. He basically shares the vision of our founding fathers....minus any prejudices. He's big on individual rights and liberties.

He is adamantly opposed to the patriot act and anything that compromises civil liberties in the name of national security. In my opinion, our liberties ARE our security, especially because they protect us from abuse and exploitation by the government.

Ron Paul wants a lot of issues to be dealt with on a local level rather than a federal level. Primarily things that the constitution did not grant the federal government to get involved with.

His view of social security is that we should use some of the money we save from leaving Iraq to pay for what is lacking in the social security fund and we should give everyone (esp. young people) the option to opt-out of social security.
