Chris will begin his new sermon series this Sunday. He has written a neat story that goes with his sermon series. You can read it at this link. In this two part series Chris will be dealing with breaking the cycle of sin in our lives. Here is a quote from Chris . . .This story is one I wrote in relation to my upcoming 2 part series at church. The series is titled, Breaking the Chains: Ending The Cycle of Sin and Guilt. I start this series at Faith Baptist next Sunday-August 26th, 2007 9:00, and 10:30 AM. The first message is titled "Give Up On Self, Give In To God" I hope to see you FBC readers for the series. Here's a preview for you, and anyone else reading my blog...
This Sunday night, August 26, Jack Knapp will be our special guest. Jack is a representative of the VAIB (Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists). This organization attempts to keep church informed about decisions made in Richmond by our state government that would impact local churches.
Welcome Children of the World.
Beginning their 8th year, the Children of the World International Children’s Choir has arrived and is currently preparing for an exciting 10 month tour across the United States. These 47 precious boys and girls come from several different countries and speak many different languages. They represent millions of children around the world, just like them, who need help and hope for a brighter future. These children are on a mission to share Christ's love and encourage others to become a Voice of Hope. One of the traveling teams will be our guests at Faith Baptist Church on Wednesday night September 5 at 7 PM. We are still in need of housing for this choir if you can help please contact the church office at 962-6335

In a few days we will be thanking all of our teachers for their ministry here at Faith. We will thank them publicly and provide a meal for them. These folks study and prepare lessons week after week with little recognition. Why do they do it? I think it is a love for God and a love for their students. Elaine and I both attended a teen class in our home church in Lynchburg, VA. Our teacher was Clarence Campbell, he worked at a wrecking company during the day and taught Sunday School on the weekend. He was not the best teacher in the world, he had never been trained and had never been prepared for teaching teens. Yet the teens including Elaine and myself loved this guy. What Clarence lacked in teaching ability he made up for with compassion. He loved his students and he didn't hesitate to let you know. You could sense his genuine concern as he listened to you share all the problems you were facing as a teen. What made Clarence a great teacher? It wasn't his Biblical knowledge, it wasn't his skill as a public speaker and it wasn't his organization. What made Clarence a great teacher was his love for God and his love for his students. I know because I was one of them. Thank God for teachers who teach even with limited resources and abilities because of their love for God and their students.
Hope to see you Sunday, have a good weekend. |
