For several years, I have read through the book of Psalms and Proverbs every month. I guess I've read them each at least 24 times.
Anyway, I read a chapter from Proverbs every day - the chapter that matches the date. For example, today I read Proverbs 27 - because today is August 27th.
For Psalms, I read the chapter that matches the date (today was Psalms 27), then skip to 57, then skip to 87, then skip to 117 and then to 147 (adding 30 - for 30 days of the month - to each Chapter).
Tomorrow, I will read Psalm 28, 58, 88, 118 and 148, and so on -- get it?
Anyway, I think if I were to read ahead, I could predict my future. God always speaks to me through those Psalms every single day. Not a day has gone by that I didn't feel like there was a verse or passage that was meant specifically for me on that specific day.
The past few days have been a little bit of a pitty party for me. I'm sleep deprived (from Timothy being sick), and emotionally and physically exhausted. I've been depressed and broken hearted.
But, as always, God had a very clear and personalized word for me today in my Psalms.
147:3 He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. I never cease to be amazed at how much God uses his Word to speak to me and minister to me. I have to wonder how people, who do not read their their Bible every day, make it through. If it weren't for my daily reading, I don't know where I'd be. Reading my Bible every day is exactly as though I am reading what God has to say to me that day. He always reminds me of something I already knew (but had forgotten), or He shows me something totally new that is *right* where I am that day. He knows what is going on in my life at the moment, and He knows what will be going on in my life in the future -- and my daily readings always reflect what God is doing in my life. -- Absolutely amazing -- How blessed we are to have His Word available to us - to have Him speak to us through it every day.
