You know, the Lord never promised us we would not have struggles/problems/trials.  But, what He has promised us is that He will be with us through these times.

I love this verse because it reminds me that even though there will always be waters and fires, they won't consume us.  He will be with us and carry us through to the other side unharmed. 

I have a tendancy to let my problems overwhelm and consume me.  They begin to take over my entire focus -- but that is NOT God's plan.   Those problems/trials do not have to consume me because the Lord is with me.  He has a plan for everything.  Nothing catches Him by surprise. 

I mean, think about it... when Moses led the people across the Red Sea - they literally were passing through the waters.  The Lord was with them - the waters did not overwhelm them -- and He led them safely to the other side.

And then there was Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego -- talk about walking through the fire!!!  The Lord was with them and they were not consumed.

If the Lord can do that literally - through literal waters and fires -- don't you think our problems are a lot smaller than those??     I know mine are -- and I know that the Lord is with me -- and He will not let those problems overwhelm or consume me.
