| Faith for Pooky |
|
| |
What does it really mean to have faith in God? I've been contemplatin that question the past few days due to a strange chain of events that happened to me. First let me take you back many years to when Kathy and me got hitched...
See I couldn't figure out what to get her for a weddin present. So after much thought I decided to get her a pet ferret.
(Picture of the ferret) Kathy just loved it. Everywhere we went that ferret was right there with us. We even dressed him up and let him be in the wedding.

(He didn't like bein all dressed up)
Well, last week the ferret became very sick. Me and Kathy didn't know what to do. We didn't have money to pay no vet bill, and so Kathy suggested that I take him out to the back yard and put him down with my shotgun... nice and quick like.... so he wouldn't suffer no more.
Well, I told Kathy there won't no way I was doin that, and that I was just going to believe God for healin. I prayed all night, I even got Rich to agree with me that the ferret would be healed and make a full recovery. But the next day, I got up to check on him and he was dead.
I was crushed. And I'll admit it... I even questioned God. "God I thought that if I had faith that You would answer my prayer!"... "How could You let this happen, I just don't understand."... "How could You let Pooky die?!" I went on like this for a couple of days, mad at God.
On day three I took my Camaro out for a spin. I was crusin down the road when my cell phone rang. It was Kathy and she said I needed to get home real quick. I got home as fast as I could, and ran in the front door.
When I walked in I looked down beside the TV and there was a big ole SNAKE!! And the snake was layin in Pooky's old bed! I reached down real quick, grabed it behind the head and threw it outside.
As I walked back into the trailor. Kathy gave me a big hug. While we stood there embracing each other God spoke to my heart just like he always does. "See BillyRay, if I hadn't of took your ferret to heaven 3 days ago, that snake would have ate him."... "BillyRay, you need to start trusting me, REALLY trusting me"
Then he brought two verses to my mind.
8:28 And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, `even' to them that are called according to `his' purpose. 12:23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.
Real faith in God is when we finally learn to trust God no matter what... when we really want HIS will for our lives. It's always a good thing to pray for healin, but God sees the bigger picture, and things don't always go the way we think they should. When bad things happen it's human nature to question God, but when we do it shows that we probably still have some doubt as to whether or not God has our best interest in mind. I just want to encourage everybody out there that, God does indeed have our best interest in mind. Bad things are bound to happen to us here in this old sinful world, but when bad things happen don't let it turn you away from God, let it drive you even closer to Him. God bless. |

On June 23 my grandmother died. It was terrible, there was this fire, and she was alone in the house and couldn't get out. What was really heartbreaking for me was to see my dad desperately trying to put out the fire and calling "Mommy? mommy?". It was the saddest moment in my life. And I was sad, and questioning God. But at the funeral service, after a prayer and a short meditation on 1 Thessalonians 4, there were 4 of the relatives who came to Jesus, asked Him to be their Lord and Savior. And then that very verse came to my mind, 8:28 And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, `even' to them that are called according to `his' purpose. |

This reminded me to call Jeff about having Pooky stuffed and mounted... He said he'd do it and would take about 2 weeks. Don't worry about the cost cause I'm gonna take care of it (late birthday present.) Man, he's gonna look good in yer living room!
One question, how do you want him positioned? Laying down, standing, pointing, etc...? Jeff said he could even put a tv remote in his hand or a cigarette in his mouth or do some fun stuff like that... kind of a "Party Pooky" if ya want.
Let me know. |

| Tina - I don't know what you are going through, but I know that God loves you and i don't believe in coincidences. God wanted to get a word to you today and that is why you just "happened" to drop by when you did. We don't always get the privilege of understanding God like I did in my blog. But God always uses the events that happen here on earth to mold and shape us into what God wants. I will be praying for you. |
|
|
| Elmer - That is just an awful tradgedy. It shows allot of maturity on your part to turn to God's word like that. I hope I get to the place one day where that will be my first action when tribulation comes. I'll be prayin for you and your family. |

This is a confusing blog to me. At first, I wanted to laugh, then I was like, " No Shannon, this is serious, don't laugh", & then I read Richs' remarks, then started laughing again! I am so confused! Did you mean for this to be serious or playful? Cause I dont want to laugh, if I aint suppose to. |
|
|
shannon - It's ok to laugh as long as you understand to moral of the story. Pooky is in a better place now.
Rich - Man I appreciate the birthday present. I think if you could get him curled up, kinda like if he was laying in his bed it would be good. |

| Cute story...my sympathies on Pooky's passing. |
|
|
I get the moral. It is hard to take you and Rich serious! You have that funny annointing! |
|
|
I have couch cheetos! Belated gifts from my grandkids--you don't want to know what else they stuffed in there!
My sympathies to Kathy--for poor Pooky's passing. I'm trying to think of something sensitive to say here--but the bottom of the page has a very annoying banner blinking a bald headed Brittany--I think I better go now, before I have nightmares of Bald Brittany cuddling with Stuffed Pooky while choking down cheesy goodness. Does Brittany look better bald? What kind of question is that? |

Love the blog! Biblical truth and comedy. I found myself laughing out loud on this one |
|
|
| Aww sorry to know pooky died. Your thoughts are so true, when something like that happens we get upset, even mad at God. He does know what's best. And he works all things out for good to those who love him. I have a pet ferret too, named Trixie. She's almost 3 years old now. Have a great day! Lisa |
