As I stood there in my full dress uniform on military parade I was almost overcome by nervousness as the general who was overseeing the ceremony stood in front of me. As he pinned the medal I was awarded for bravery on my chest he said to me, “ You ‘re a hero son”. His words rattled around in my head for days and no matter how hard I tried I could never believe what he said. ( Now I am not suggesting soldiers , firefighters, police officers etc.. are not heroes I am only speaking from personal experience.)

We are in need of heroes in this world, people who will effect change and stand up for the little guy. We can be caught in a desperate struggle searching for someone anyone. We may look to athletes , musicians , actors the list of people can be endless. Unfortunately most of the time these people let us down.

I never thought I would ever meet a true hero until one day after I had started my relationship with Christ. I was shaving in the mirror and I noticed something different in my eyes I couldn’t wrap my mind around it until I read Galatians 2: 20

I had the original superhero living inside of me just like you do right now. The next time you need to see a hero just look in the mirror you will see our Lord looking back through your eyes. When Jesus lives in us there is nothing we can’t do because He empowers us we can effect change in this world because of Him. Luke 10: 19
