Labor Day - well I went on the web ( thank you Al Gore - lol) and found out a few things about the US federal holiday. It was first celebrated in 1882 on the first Monday in Sept., but it actually became a national holiday in 1894 by an Act of Congress. The Central labor Union wanted to create a "holiday" for the "working man". Today it kind of symbolizes the end of summer.
Well, if you are celebrating it by going to the lake, a barbeque, a party, or just sleeping in: be thankful that you can. You have a job, however exciting or boring it may be, that allows you to live in the lifestyle you have become accustomed. We are very fortunate to have all the amenities that we have. Remember to thank God for all that you have.
Thank you heavenly Father for the job that you have given me. When I get irritated about the boring part of my job - let me be reminded of all that it provides me. Without your love, patience, and guidance I would be lost. You are my guidepost, my redeemer, my savior. Thank you for providing for all my needs.
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing. So on the seventh day he rested from all of his work. Genesis 2:2 |
