Tomorrow, I will be concluding the 2 part message series at Faith, called : "Breaking the Chains: Ending the Cycle of Sin and Guilt" Tomorrow's theme and main thought is the above title for my blog: Surrender = Victory This is such an important, and yet difficult concept for us as Christians to grasp. If we do grasp it though, and apply this principle to our daily walk, then I am confident that we will experience the power, joy and freedom that we are intended by God, to know. Here's the handout for you to look at. For you FBC members, consider it a preview, or a way to still follow along with the rest of us, if you won't be at church tomorrow. For the rest of you blog readers that aren't in our church, I hope you can find encouragement as you look at the message hand out. God bless, and may we all live surrendered lives unto our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Chris. | Breaking the Chains: Ending the Cycle of sin and guilt | Surrender=Victory
“What if Noah had told God, “I don’t do boats!” What if Joseph had not forgiven his brothers and failed to protect them from the life-threatening famine? Or what if Jesus had refused to die on the cross? Surrender is the tipping point. When we make that choice, God can use us to do great things for Him.”---- Joe Stowell - · CONSISTENT victory over sin requires COMPLETE surrender to
the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:24-25 NLT (V.24) “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.” (Consistency) (V.25) “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” (Complete Surrender) - This surrender cannot be HALF-HEARTED.
I Kings 20:4 NKJV “And the king of Israel answered and said, ‘My lord, O king, just as you say, I and all that I have are yours.’” “Do, or do not. There is no try.” ---Yoda-Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back HOW CAN I DO THIS? Matt. 19:26 NKJV “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” - This surrender requires DEPENDENCE on God’s power for success.
Philippians 2:13 NLT “For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey Him and the power to do what pleases Him.” Philippians 1:6 ESV “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” - This surrender to God is the least you can do in
RESPONSE to what He did for you. Ephesians 2:4-5 ESV (V.4) “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love which with He loved us, (V.5) even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ---by grace you have been saved” I Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV (V.19) “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; (V.20) “you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” Romans 12:1 NLT “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice---the kind He will accept. When you think of what He has done for you, is this too much to ask?”
