ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
ALTON —School officials evacuated the Alton High School this morning and dismissed students for the day after a student found a bomb threat written in a bathroom stall.
The words “Bomb on Friday” were discovered by a student in a girls bathroom during first period. The school was immediately placed on lock-down as officials called authorities. Shortly afterward, students were loaded on buses and sent to nearby churches.
Bomb sniffing dogs and police searched the school, but found no evidence of explosives.
Students had to leave the school grounds before they could retrieve their belongings, but school authorities say they will be on hand to let them into the building to collect their things until 9 p.m tonight and between 9 am and 3 pm Saturday.
