Joshua 4:19-24 … “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What are these stones?’ 22 then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Israel crossed over this Jordan on dry land’; 23 for the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over, 24 that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty, that you may fear the LORD your God forever.”
The purpose of this blog is simple; tell your God stories, remembering His Goodness and faithfulness. We want you to testify! Tell us your stories of deliverance, healing and provision. Tell us how He has comforted you. Share with us how He has made a way when there seemed to be no way. Let your stories become “standing stones” that speak When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What are these stories? then you shall let your children know … what the Lord has done … that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty, that you may fear the LORD your God forever.” Thank you for sharing!
The story you’re about to read is one of my favorite memories:
Food for your table Once upon a time about 24 years ago, Lori & I hadn’t been married long when we moved to Lakeland, FL to attend South Eastern Bible College. We were so very excited about becoming Youth Pastors. Our faith was just as inexperienced as we were, but we were having the time of our lives. We rented an apartment and Lori made it a cozy little nest; it was great! I was going to school full time, loading out Coca Cola trucks at night and working weekends at a restaurant.
Well, not much time had passed when our situation changed; I lost a job and before I could find another our money ran out. There I was with a beautiful new bride, no money and the pantry was bare, I mean really bare. Quickly we were down to our last meal; one box of mac & cheese. Lori was so sweet and trusting, she prepared the “last supper” and we sat down at our tiny little table. I told her “I don’t know how, but I know if we trust Him, He will take care of us”. Lori agreed with her whole heart, we held hands and bowed our heads to pray. The prayer went something like this “… thank you Lord for this food and for meeting our needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus ….and then suddenly, just as I was saying “Amen” there came a knock at the door. I’m not kidding; the knock came at that very moment. We were startled to say the least, because no one knew where we lived (no one but God). When I answered the door, I found a man in front of me whom I had never seen before. What happened next was amazing. He said “ I live at the end of the walk and I was wondering if you might like to have the food in my kitchen, I just bought groceries and my company called this morning and I have to leave town in the morning; I won’t be returning”. Wow! You could have knocked me over with a feather. After we finished moving it all, every cabinet was full including the pantry, the freezer, and fridge even the counter tops were covered with groceries. It was almost a month before we had to buy anything. And by the way, we did eat the mac & cheese. God simply showed up and made a way where there seemed to be no way. The experience was a foundational moment in our lives. Through the years, the Father has met our needs time and again. As recently as last week He provided for us again in a tough situation. When your circumstances appear to be out of control and things are tough. Lift your heart towards your loving Father and let yourself rest in His care. He will not fail you. Somehow, some way He will provide. DannyB <><
