THIS Sunday, September 16th, football legend Bill Currier will be speaking during the 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. morning services.
Bill Currier was the Defensive Captain of the New York Giants, whom he played with for 5 years. He also spent three years with the Houston Oilers and and one year with the New England Patriots.
Bill grew up outside of Baltimore, Maryland. He came to South Carolina to play football for the University of South Carolina. He was a defensive starter for three years as Safety. His senior year, Bill won the Guerard Award for the highest GPA on the football team.
Bill won the Wadiak MVP award and the Rex Enright Captain's Cup. He is the only player to win all three of these awards in the same season. While at USC, Bill was introduced to Jesus Christ by five USC football players.
Bill's on field accomplishments:
* Played in 2 AFC Championship games * Played in the Blue-Gray All-Star game * Drafted in the 9th round by the Houston Oilers * Won the New York City Touchdown Club "Unsung Hero" award * Made the NFL All-Rookie Team * Defensive Captain of the New York Giants
Only five players in USC football history have had longer NFL careers.
