It is interesting that even in the Old Testament the Jews knew that God was full of grace and mercy. That He is actually actively looking to forgive those that repent. 4:2 And he prayed unto Jehovah, and said, I pray thee, O Jehovah, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I hasted to flee unto Tarshish; for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, and repentest thee of the evil. Strange that the Religious elite did not know that. 9:1 And he entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city. 9:2 And behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven. 9:3 And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. 9:4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? We are also called to forgive sinners like Jesus did.
6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 6:13 And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil `one.' 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. This is something that even I stuggle with, even though I have read all the books.
