| Keeping a Reining Ear to the Voice of the Master |

In Wednesday Night Bible Study, we are studying about how to hear God's voice. Last night God's anointing was so powerful. The lesson was so relevent for what is going on in our lives. Our battles are continuing and we continue to ask God why or what to do but we never create the atmosphere to hear from God the answers to our questions. Sometimes it is because we don't want to hear the answer because we know what He is going to tell us. That we need to change something in our lives or in our flesh that we truly don't want to change. Change or repentance is difficult. No one enjoys admitting that they have done something wrong. They would rather ignore it and hope that is goes away but God continues to knock upon our heart or whisper into our ear until we change. If our heart becomes hard then our change sometimes is a long time coming. We must learn and train ourselves to listen for God's voice. A horse is trained to keep one ear always listening for the voice of the master. That ear is turned toward the master so that it never misses a word spoken from the master. Then the other ear is always listening for danger. WOW! If we could only train our ears to do the same. Surely we can do as a horse! Have one ear turned to the voice of our Master so that we are always ready for a direction, correction, or inspiration. Our other ear always set to listen for danger. Listening to the world to warn our spirit of things that might harm us. Yet how many of us use our ears for gossip, input devices for music that bring us down, television that is full of filth, and vulgar language. All of these things come in through our ears but come out our mouth. Garbage in, garbage out. We need to learn to listen to that still, small voice that directs us. Don't listen to them talk about that person... that's gossip. Don't be bothered to excuse yourself from the conversation. Be more worried about impressing God than those people. We need to get to a place where when we weigh the importance of things in life that our relationship with God weighs more than things of this world. What will they think of me if I walk away from their conversation? They may think that you are someone that they want to be like because you had the guts to stand up and do something that they didn't. We need to start worrying about what God thinks instead of man. Each one of us is at a different level of maturity and can accomplish this task at different times. Some of us know just enough about Jesus to keep us out of hell, but not enough to walk in victory. Even the devil knows the scriptures, therefore we must know how to apply them to our lives. We must trust God that when the Bible says that I am more than a conqueror then I can fight and WIN! I don't want to just die one day and go to heaven. I want to live a victorious life between that time. God has all kinds of blessings waiting for us and He is just waiting for us to mature enough to have them. It is like we are still drinking from the bottle but he has already bought us a car and stored it in the carport. He is waiting with excitement for us to grow up so that He can give it to us. If we will learn to turn that ear toward him in everything then we will begin to mature and grow. Some of us just want to listen to God when it comes to large tasks in our lives. If we only listen to God in life changing moments then how are we for sure that that is God's voice. He speaks to us daily to prepare us in little things so that when a major event comes along that we are prepared. When He speaks to us about it, we are confident in His voice. Thank you Father!!! I am His child and I trust Him. It says in Romans 8:14-17
8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 8:15 For ye received not the spirit of bondage again unto fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 8:16 The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God: 8:17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with `him', that we may be also glorified with `him'. I want to know my Fathers voice and the only way to know His voice is to listen. If you aren't confident in the Father's voice today then take time today to create a quiet atmosphere to allow God to speak to you today. We can't expect God to speak to us in our chaotic life with screaming children, the television blaring, and in the middle of cooking dinner. We need to STOP and create a quiet atmosphere and give God quality time to be able to speak to us. He deserves our attention. He is waiting with excitement for you to grow up so that He can pour His next blessing out on you. So turn your reigning ear toward the Master so that you can hear His voice today. |
