| Lessons from carpet shampooing |

In an effort to help our house look decent for hosting our church home group this month, I took out the carpet shampooer we purchased last year. Well, after repeatedly going over and over the carpet in my family room, the once solid carpet now looks like it is striped. That would be a good thing except for the fact that the shampooer isn’t working right and has created stripes of dirt and clean. Now my carpet looks strange and emphasizes just how much dirt we have in our house of three children and a dog! Rather than get discouraged, I started to think of how I can relate this to my life spiritually. First, how many of us walk around every day acting as though only some of our dirty sin is clean? How much do I confidently live my daily life knowing that my sin has been forgotten by God? While I wish my carpet was white as snow, how grateful I am that my soul is!! Second, just as I have gone over every stain countless times to remove it from my nasty carpet, how grateful I am that it only took Jesus one time to die for my sins and yours. He was the ultimate sacrifice and nothing else that I can do will take away the darkness in my life. Other than confirm our decision to go to laminate flooring as soon as we can afford to do so, this experience has made me appreciate my salvation and the love God has for me!!
1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
