| Naked in Church |
|
| |
So this morning, I showed up at church naked. It's not the first time unfortunately. However usually I can grab one of the pew bibles (you didn't think I was talking about clothes did you?) when scripture is quoted/read. However, this time I was in Sunday School as we were asked to read verses. Turns out I wasn't the only one who was naked as there were few that had brought their Bibles. I remember an older gentleman in one of my bible studies about five years ago who lamented the introduction of the pew Bibles as one of the devaluers of God's Word. His point was no one felt it was necessary to bring their Bibles to church any more. Either way, I don't intend to be naked in church again next week. And just maybe I'll get the cats herded and be out the door so I'm on time. :) |

Actually I really had meant to leave off with a question. That being how many people bring their Bible to church? And I was a bit low on coffee drinking yesterday. :) |

| I like bring in my bible as well you can write in it and you can select a translation that makes you understand gods word more clearly . Sometimes it is also good to read along with the pastor . The thing I like most is I don't have to worry about what I do with my Bible it is mine and I use it just like any other tool . however in this case it is a tool to help us understand god's purpose in life. I have also from time to time forgotten my Bible and it feels funny to use the bible in the pew. |

| I tended to bring my Bible with for quite a while and then I realized the scripture reading was using the pew Bible translation. Which made the pew Bible more attractive. And I'm not good at taking notes. Not good at all. :) |

| I love bringing my bible to church and sunday school but for the past few weeks I haven't been bringing mine becasue I think I lost it. Now, after I sing in choir, I go up to the balcony where no one is there and its peaceful and I read the verse that is on the sermon in the pew bible, it's kind of like meditating and thinking. There's also less lighting and the microphones not as loud. |

| I also try not to wright in my bible because it feels like I am displeasing God, It is the holy bible and I believe it should be treated as such. |

You think you lost it? Think or know? I've had my primary Bible for 16 years. I'm a bit confused as it's a Geneva Study Bible (King James) which seems to imply the whole Lutheran thing, but I think I've attended a Lutheran church 20 times total since then. :) (And 20 is probably high) So I wouldn't want to lose it, even though I don't take good notes. |

I used to feel that way. And I also didn't want to yawn in Church. Of course that had as much to do with my believing the reason my Grandpa getting sick had to do with his falling asleep in Church. I want to write in my Bible but I haven't figured out any good way for me to organize it. People organize the Bible by adding in maps and everything else. :) |

I'm sure it's in my house somewhere. I go to a Babtist church for 15 years as long as I've been alive and my mom works at a Lutheran church so we go to both, more to the Babtist church than to the lutheran church. I'm starting to tie in Lutheran traditions to my own. |

You go to the Baptist church, but are more comfortable with the Lutheran one? (Just trying to make sure I'm tracking correctly)

hehe thanks for the plug brother :-)
You know Norm, I really do feel naked going to church w/o bible in hand. It helps to have a small bible, rather than carry a massive study bible to church. ;-) |

Actually I missed the plug. I typed it, intending to link it and then must have gotten distracted. So let's try that again. :) I also thought about asking in a teasing manner for a ruling on which would be more important. Showing up at church on time or showing up *ahem* fully clothed. Small Bible vs. massive study Bible in a post titled "Naked In Church" would seem to lead to the question of which provides better coverage. :) I think I've successfully beaten that dead horse. (Note to cat lovers: See! I can pick on other animals too!) |

| What I wonder about are the bibles I find in the sancuary left in seats---you know, like a 'reserved' notice. hmmmm.... |

| Hmmmm... That might be a good expirement to try some morning. I bet that would work better than roping off a section. |

| By the way Mike, it occurs to me that if I'm answering the question in subject of that link literally, it would have to be "No!". As far as I know I have nothing to be on time for at church tomorrow. :) |

Sue!!!! From the amount I've seen you around lately, I figure you're polishing up your sword. Although in all this switching between literals and figuratives, I have no idea what that translate too. |
