We don't always get to lead someone to the Lord and spend hours or days teaching them more about God's Word and the way to live for Christ. In Acts 16 Paul only spent several days in Philippi as he led Lydia and some other ladies to the Lord. They started having Bible study and prayer time at her house (church). Then Paul had the encounter with the Philippian jailer and had the opportunity to lead him and his family to the Lord. But then Paul was asked to leave town. That had to be tough for a man that enjoyed and saw it his responsibilty to "make disciples." Yet, he had to leave and trust that God would aid in the Disciple Making Disciple process. Then we read his words from prison later to the Philippians: 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ: Just share the Gospel and trust God...He can finish what He started! |
