| Seeking God |

4:29 But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. I learned a lesson in seeking God last night. It had been a long day. I had just clocked out of work at 10:30 and was on my way down the hall to my room when the phone rang. It was the hospital with a trauma call. So I logged back in, transcribed a report, and then 30 minutes later finally got to bed. That time is my favorite time of the day. I get my pillows all propped and floofed just right. I have my Bible waiting for me in the rocking chair next to my bed. The house is completely quiet and I am able to have my evening Bible reading time.
However, last night was different. I began to read my Psalms for the day. After about the third one, I was about to just close my Bible and go to sleep. I might have well been reading Shakespeare. I was getting NOTHING out of it.
That's when I realized that I was just going through the motions. I wasn't seeking God. I was just doing the routine of reading my Bible. Reading the Bible does not come with a guarantee that you will hear from the Lord. You have to seek him. You not only have to read with your eyes, but with your heart as well.
I stopped, asked the Lord to forgive me for not seeking him, and then asked Him to speak to me through my reading - and He did. As the scripture says -- if we seek Him, we *WILL* find Him if we seek Him with all our hearts.
