| NOT FAIL THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE. |

31:3 The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee, [and] he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: [and] Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said. 31:4 And the LORD shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed. 31:5 And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you. 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 31:7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it. 31:8 And the LORD, he [it is] that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
WHENEVER WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING THE LORD WANTS US TO DO WE TEND TO BECOME AFRAID AND FEARFUL. THE LORD WAS LEADING MOSES AND HIS PEOPLE TO NEW LANDS IN WHICH THEY WOULD HAVE A NEW CHALLENGES AND NEW BATTLES TO FIGHT AND WIN. HE REMINDS THEM OF THE PAST VICTORIES AND THEN HAS TO REMIND THEM NOT TO BE AFRAID AND TO NOT FEAR. WHY? BECAUSE HE IS WITH THEM AND "WILL NOT FAIL THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE"( FROM VERSES 6AND 8).
YOU SEE, WHEN THE LORD MAKES A PROMISE TO NOT FORSAKE US , HE IS TELLING US HE WILL NOT LEAVE US. NOW, IF THE LORD IS NOT GOING TO LEAVE US, THEN HE IS NOT GOING TO FAIL US. WE MAY FAIL, BUT HE NEVER FAILS. WE HAVE A SONG WE SING IN OUR CHURCH CALLED "JESUS NEVER FAILS." I LOVE THAT SONG BECAUSE IT REMINDS ME THAT HE WILL ALWAYS BE THERE TO HELP US IN EVERY BATTLE IN EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE.
TWICE IN THIS CHAPTER THE LORD SAYS TO BE STRONG AND OF A GODD COURAGE BECAUSE TWICE HE SAYS HE WILL NEVER FAIL US NOR FORSAKE US. LET HIS PRESENCE GIVE YOU STRENGTH. LET HIS PRESENCE GIVE YOU BRAVERY. IN THIS DAY AND AGE, TOO, MANY SKEPTICS RUB OFF ON GOD'S PEOPLE AND TOO MANY BECOME LIKE JOB'S WIFE, TELLING US TO "CURSE GOD AND DIE." BUT WE, LIKE JOB, NEED TO TRUST THE LORD IN THE GOOD TIMES AND TRUST THE LORD IN THE BAD TIMES. WE MUST STAND OUR GROUND, HOLD FAST TO WHAT WE BELIEVE, AND FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH.
IF YOU ARE SAVED, THE LORD IS WITH YOU AND WILL HELP YOU IF YOU JUST BOW YOUR HEAD AND CLAIM THE TRUTH THAT HE IS WITH YOU. PRAY FOR HIS STRENGTH AND HELP. IF YOU DON'T KNOW HIM, ASK HIM FOR GORGIVENESS OF YOUR SINS AND SALVATION. HE PROMISES HE WILL. SHALL HE NOT MAKE IT GOOD?
