Ah, I see! Problems with getting new layouts to work? What layout??? Wellllll....
Frequently seen problems: - Code seen in wierd places??
You need to delete that code from the "About me" box --or any other box, (that's the wrong box to put it in...all "pasted" layout code needs to go in the "general" box, unless you know what you are doing...), and start over again! The "About Me" box is mostly for a description of you...jumping icons and stuff will come later. LOL
- Want a cool layout? Getting confused? Back to the basics, would-be layout artists --extremely detailed instructions below:
Go to this simple layout generator (click link below):
http://www.freecodesource.com/pages/myspacegenerators/profile-editor/index.php
When you tweak the "sample myspace layout" and get the result you want, push the "get code" file tab and copy ALL not part of the text that is in there. (Just click once in the code box and it will select ALL of the code that is in the box) Copy the code and go back to your "edit profile settings" page. Then paste the code into the box labeled "General" in your edit profile settings! There will be a lot of wierd text in there, do not change anything. Click "Submit."
When you look at your new profile, you should see somethng approximating the "example" layout that is at the bottom of the generators page. If it doesn't look right, tear out the code from the general box and start over with the generator again.(Making sure you start out with a clean area in the "general" box.)
Once you get the idea, you can try for one of those fancy layouts that are found all over the web!
- Repeating this instruction, because it is IMPORTANT: --copy ALL not part of the code. Most of the time you can just click once in the code box and it will select ALL of the code that is in the box. I don't know how many times I've seen layouts that fail on me... erm... others, just because a > or some other small but necessary piece of code was inadvertantly left out!
- Final Tip: Every time you add a new "jumping icon," "youtube" video or what have you, put it in AFTER your generated layout code, and put some space between each new pasted code for clarity. Trust me, someday you will want to take that glittering skull off your page --and you'll thank me.
Has this info been helpful to you? Then (shameless begging) give this post a "Star." --look for the gold star just above this post and CLICK IT! LOL
