| Is our Health an indicator of our spiritual state? |

Last blog I gave a quick look at why most of the belivers in Christ havn't manifested the healing in thier bodies that we are promised by the Word. It's not GOD, it's us, not appropriating sanctification thru the work of the Cross and the Word of GOD. Our bodies (health) seem to be a pretty good indicator of our spiritual life. Sometimes our mind can become conditioned from previous hurts, the way we feel about ourselves, and old thought patterns but our body is not fooled so easily. When we are in constant stress, fear, anger and worry our endocrine system releases chemicals counter productive to our health. One of these chemicals is cortisol. With prolonged stress Cortisol rises to over 240% of normal. The elevated cortisol level with its prednisone-like effects, eventually wreaks havoc on a variety of the body's organs. Effects on Hormones: Cortisol stimulates the coversion of noradrenaline to adrenaline resulting in increased levels of adrenaline in the blood. Excessive adrenaline can cause skin disease, high blood pressure, constrition of blood vessels, and increased cholesterol production to name a few. Infection: Cortisol supresses antibody production and T-cell activity. This puts the stressed individual at a much greater risk for infection. For example, the risk of the common cold has been found to correlate directly with the level of stress one is experencing. Cancer: Elevated levels of cortisol also supress natural killer cells, which are critical in the destruction of tumor cells. Diabetes: Cortisol blocks insulin. Memory loss: Cortisol fries the delicate dendrites in the brain that are necessary for the transfer of information. This is just a partial list of the effects that a single chemical can have on our health. We have many different types of chemicals in our bodies. Most of these are released with our consciense and unconsciense thoughts. Realize that many of our thoughts and situations can cause this stress. Fear, unforgiveness, anger, hatred, self-hatred, shame and guilt are but a few. These thoughts are not the thoughts GOD wants you to have. These come between you, others and GOD. Remember if you aren't following the two greatest commandments that Jesus gave us, we are not in obedience to Him. 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment. 12:31 And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. |
