THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! I actually had the Meatloaf Bat out of He** album as a teenager! LOL! As for the food meatloaf, i love it! I miss it! None of my family likes it, so I never get it. Now, I don't like anybody elses meatloaf but mamas meatloaf. She uses crackers, cuz bread makes the meatloaf soggy. And she dont put them nasty green peppers in it either!

Actually, I think Jesus ate Salmon patties....with crackers. THEY WERE FISH EATERS! Jesus wasn't a meat eater. HEY! thats a great question!!! Was Jesus a Vegetarian?? Who wants to blog it? Vegetarians eat fish, but not like cows and stuff...right???

You can do it if you'll title it "Jesus Don't Like Demon Pigs"  and weave in that story about when he cast the demons into the swine. lol

One of the oldest meatloaf recipes fromes from ancient Rome.

"Ground meat patties in omentum: Grind chopped meat with the center of fine white bread that has been soaked in wine. Grind together pepper, garum, and pitted myrtle berries if desired. Form small patties, putting in pine nuts and pepper. Wrap in omentum and cook slowly in caroenum."

---A Taste of Ancient Rome, Ilaria Gozzini Giacosa, translated by Anna Herklotz [University of Chicago Press:Chicago] 1992 (pp. 89-90)

NB: Omentum is pork fat and caroenum is reduced wine.

Mine has Italian bread crumbs; no green peppers and no blueberry muffins.  :-)

Pastor Tim - I know a lady who does that with her hamburgers: throws in random leftovers.

OK, Here is a meat loaf treat for you, next time put velveeta cheese in the middle of it, that is the best way, you will never eat it plain again.

Have you tried meatloaf with BBQ sauce, instead of the ketchup?  And that brings another question...why are there two ways to spell ketchup/catsup?
MulletPreacher
September 29, 2007 at 8:53am
Deb - hmm i hain't never tried it with BBQ sauce, but that don't sound too bad. Ketchup is the correct spellin. Some redneck named Johnathon Swift misspelled it as catsup back in 1730 and it just caught on.
JayKTX
September 29, 2007 at 9:59am

Well, I love meatloaf with ketchup but I am beginning to wonder about a redneck that gives history lessons and word definitions and proposes to write a cookbook. If you didn't have a mullet and speak the lingo I would wonder about your redneck credentials! :)

I'm giving you a star to let you know I'm just funnin' ya. You and Rich lively up the place and impart fun as well as wisdom, especially about ketchup being the only proper accompaniment to meatloaf.

All this talk about meatloaf had made me hungry.  Guess I am headed to the store to buy the ingredients.  Have to get some potatos & carrots to throw in the oven with it though.  Oh well, might as go all the way and get some hot biscuits to go along with this dinner.

I don't know...  I'd do anything for love, but I won't eat meatloaf!

Just kidding.  I like meatloaf.  I haven't developed a recipe yet, so I'll need to start experimenting.

Meatloaf is apparently so important that a wikipediea article exists for it: Meatloaf wiki

Great meatloaf idea for ya... instead  of breadcrumbs, try a box of stovetop for extra zing.  We use stovetop, 2 eggs and a can of cream of mushroom!  Line pan with foil for easy clean up...  hubby and son pull out foil and literally lick the crispie bites off there instead of wasting them!

Heeheehee!!! I don't care for ketchup or green peppers in my meatloaf-I like mustard, eggs and ground up crackers, a little salt/pepper/garlic powder and adobo and into the oven it goes!  Makes the best sandwiches the next day!  Great post!!

This is too funny!  This is the blog with the most comments I've ever come across!  And all because of meatloaf!  Who would kill me if I told them I don't like meatloaf??  Maybe it's the Canadian in me...naw, the fussiness, I think.....so next time I am at a loss for words with someone, and want to keep the conversation going, I will just start talking about meatloaf, and that should keep the conversation going from here until Jesus returns! lol
