MH - why thank you dear.. uh... I'm still waiting... the guitar mighty silent...lol

Mandie - thank you and I do look forward to reading more of your poetry... let it flow...let it flow...

Evangelist - Now I never said I didn't have my opinions, cause girlfriend always has her opinions... just hate to write more than a paragraph.

Pastor Tim - all I can say is that's this is called "love on a two-way street",  I love reading anything you write, and (whispering to Pastor Tim, cause I don't want nobody else to know this.... Pastor Tim, it is you who inspired me to write..).  No seriously, I'm in a continuous zone of developing....  developing messages for the E-Telecast, developing lessons for Bible Study, developing workshops for Leadership training..  So I'm always writing, always multi-tasking, just never blogged before.   Thanks for the compliment.  Btw, what you need to do is send Pastor Ken an email and ask him when is he gonna get back in front of the camera.   Help a sistah out, if you please...lol

Deb- I wrote this because I felt that too many people were getting anxious too easily, and should just trust in God.  Don't worry about what others say...  I.e., if I was standing next to you and you said to me, "I gonna run in front of the car to prove to you there ain't no.. whatever."  All I can say is... God be with you.  Thanks.

There always has been and always will be opposition to the cause of Christ, that is, there will be till He comes again, then all His enemies will be put down. Until then, we as faithful followers of Christ must continue to "know" that our Lord will do all He says He will do in our life. Great writing Sister.

You have nailed it.  I all comes down to relationship. Just as I could not think of life with out my wife.  We as children of God we can no longer think of a life with out Jesus.
Thank you  your blog is to the point.

As always you have inspired not only ME but OTHERS-  I enjoy you and are inspired by the way you continue to touch people with your "ORDAINED LEADERSHIP" qualities- if others could really meet you in person they woulld be able to really get the full effects of your precious gifts and qualities.  I have followed you for a long time and one day I will be "YOU", just from watching you grow-
The only thing I can say is "those of you reading her blogs - do not know what this woman is capable of"  - I know because she is my mother.  WATCH OUT - FELLOW BELEIVERS!

Pastor Aminata, that's a really good point! If our relationship is solid, we know who we are worshiping! And of course, we learn about him from scripture -- the source of true doctrine! Keeps us anchored, as opposed to blown off course. Great blog!!  ~mike

MaKelly - God Bless you girl!

Sheila - Thank you for blessing me, the Lord says do, I just do it.  When someone is blessed, God gets all the Glory!

Bro. Bob - I take that as a high compliment coming from you.  Yes, our only validation for our calling should come from God.  Now if I should put this validation into the hands of yours or anyone, then I deserved to get whatever I get.. Give man the opportunity to play god and they will do it… every time.

David - God Bless you - if only we would but know what we think we know then what we know will never be in jeopardy, knowing that we know what we know.  Not to say that I can't know something else, but rather that what I now know will build upon what I have known.

MH - continue to share your gift and share the love, keep on doing what you do for the love of the Lord.

Shannon - This is "how" I study, I start with KJV/w Strongs.... so I can do my word study in Hebrew and Greek and then I use the other translations to bring out the "flavor" of the scripture.  Glad that you appreciate it.

Mike - Yep, it's all about relationship and intimacy - think about it, how intimate are you with the Lord?

Sue- Ah thank you for the compliment, but I'm not kidding I really do hate to write.  Check this out-  I'm a national public speaker, a "paid talker".   One time after a lecture at Georgetown U., someone asked me if they could have a copy of my lecture since I was carrying my black profolio with what they thought was my "lecture."   It really wasn't my lecture, it was my grocery list that I was doing for after I got back home!   I don't write lectures,  I talk from the top of my head!  Lol

Everybody introducing my first born Sonji (who's using a pic of my granddaughter Shadae) - thank you sweetie and again Happy Birthday.  But mom thinks you be bias...lol

The thinking of secularists today is "whatever you think is right IS right...for you". So if you think 2+2+5, that's o.k. (but of course that is WRONG!  Who are they foolin'?  There is a right and a wrong, but since we might be sincerely wrong about a few things (not being omniscient like God), the best way to decide on what side of the fence to stand, is to look at it from both sides...by seeing what a whole lot of people say about it. Searching the Scriptures using multi-translations is enlightening, and books by Bible scholars. Knowing Greek and Hebrew would also help, but for those not up on ancient languages, we can at least being willing to look up certain words in a lexicon!
The 17th century early Americans would push a plow with their Greek N.T. propped up on the handle.  It was an important part of their education to learn Greek and Hebrew....because the purpose of their education was to be better able to understand and apply Scripture to make decisions affecting this new country.
We probably need Americans who can do that MORE THAN EVER BEFORE now!
I think Ken, Aminata, Sonji and probably Shadae have all found the purpose for learning ANYTHING...to glorify God and do His will. That's why they are SO on target all the time and able to help believers grow and unbelievers find Jesus.

"learning Greek and Hebrew would also help..." According to engravings in pottery and gravestones
during 1st century Palestine, people in Galilee probably spoke all three languages (Aramaic, Greek & Hebrew).  The Greek New Testament is all in Greek, meaning most of Jesus' teachings are already translations.  It's important to distinquish to Word of Christ from the Voice of Christ.  Any English translation will contain the Voice of Christ because Christ's work is finished.  The impact it has been having then, now, and tomorrow is infallibly making its progressive effect until the Second Coming of Christ.  Any English translation will do fine.  As for the Word of Christ, that is a lost cause.  We will never know objectively in the mathematical sense, because Jesus never wrote stuff up for himself.  So don't sweat it, and let nerdy scholars worry about what Jesus might have "really" said 2000 years ago.

Great blog!!  Last year I was depressed or down about a situation at work.  I suddenly realized, how come I am allowing circumstances steal my joy??  Howard Henricks says when people tell him they are doing okay under the circumstances, he asks, what are you down down there under them?  LOL

This is a great reminder to be anchored to the true anchor and plugged into His Word which is sharper than any 2 edged sword.

Thanks for your wise words!  Grace and Peace!

Excellent post.
3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Now after a life time of decieving myself and others if I could just learn to trust the spirit.

Connie - God Bless you, that's so sweet.... about Shadae I have to agree, that lil bit is learning so fast (she's only 2) hopefully one day she will grow up to take Grandma's place, as I took my Grandmother's place.

Brent - I hear ya, I hear ya.  Thank you.

Dave - I hear ya... meet me on the Brag on God blog, I got something for ya.

Amen Dear Sister...
God is The God Of Order and Truth and Spirit... Not Confusion , and Lies ... The Simple Gospel is Just That... The Simple Truth Of The Word of GOD... There are No real HIDDEN Meanings... Just depths of Understanding , As we Mature IN Him... we grow UP Spiritually... and Just Like Children In this world , we gain a deeper Understanding Of Things as we are capable of Understanding them... Jacobs LADDER... was Just That... A Ladder with different Steps  we Have to Climb... One step at a time , Usually...we Just take One step... sometimes we take two or three at a time... But still we Must climb , It is the effort we Put into The act of Climbing , that Draws Us ever Closer to God... and Gives Us Strength to take the Next Step....

Amen Rev. Floyd,  it is the act of climbing - that draws us closer to God - that strengthens our relationship with him - this is how our "knowing" Him increases.   God Bless you.

Dude, I think looking up certain words in the Greek and Hebrew lexicon in Bible study, helps us to see the exact meaning more clearly of how that word was used. The shades of meaning are lost when you go from Greek and Hebrew to a less precise language like English, that only has one word for something, no matter how it's used. Greek and Hebrew have several words with different meanings depending how it's used. It sheds new light on Scripture when you dig down deep to see what the writer meant by using that particular word for something, rather than a generic word.
I learned how to do that in a Walk Thru the Bible seminar on Studying the Bible. I'm sure Pastor Ken and Aminata learned the value of it in seminary, but it need not be just done by preachers!
Anyone can if they want to. I don't think the "real words" of Jesus are needed in Aramaic or Hebrew...the canonized New Testament spread like wild-fire in Greek thanks to Alexander the Great uniting a whole kingdom and making the use of a single language (Greek) popular for communication between diverse cultures. Likewise, the Romans added Latin...later used by the church to spread Christianity since so many could speak it all over the Roman Empire.  But the first New Testament was in Greek  and the Old Testament had been in Hebrew already for years and years. So I'll settle for that.

Connie,

Bless your heart, yes "word study" ought to be done by everyone who desire to know God through His Word  for themselves.   As a teacher of the Gospel, it is my responsibility not only to encourage others to study the Word, but to teach them how to study God's Word.

Pastor Aminata, I like your blog.  I just got to it and it's great.  It really IS about relationships.  I think Connie mentioned the word study idea.  In relationships if you hear something about someone you know, you ask them and others to see what the whole story is.  We ask God in prayer and seek other voices through the various translations to get a better idea in the same way; thereby strengthening the relationship.  Really great blog!

Gene-  what many people may not understand is that words evolve over time, and unless you do word study you could limit your understanding.   Our english language falls really really short of the original Hebrew and Greek.  That's why its important to know how to study the bible.   In our bible study "Breakfast With Jesus"  we not only teach others to study the bible, but also how to study the bible.   If I'm teaching you, how do you know if what I'm teaching you is right?  I could make and do make a mistake...  I could have a bad hair day... whatever.  But, if we all have learned how to study His Word, we can now come together and share what we have learned.

Hope this makes sense.

Feeding on God's Word is more about doing God's Word than learning God's Word.  Although learning comes logically prior to doing (obviously!), the bulk of our time should be spent on doing God's Word.  Yes, some of us have the monetary resources, as well as the luxury of time to go deep into Word Study, but the majority of people need more practice doing it.  Plus, I think there is a bit of intellectual hubris in challenging every word English translator's have spent their entire life working on.  "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work." Jn. 4:34

Dude, I hear you, yet I'm thinking "feeding" implies - digesting, and in order to digest I have to have taken the time to "eat it" or as it relates to the Word of God, study it.   Yes it is about doing His Will, but I have to know His Will in order to do His Will.  This in my opinion is a major problem today, many will not study His Word,  that's requires discipline.... there is no excuse for not knowing His Word... so that we can be approved by God... and rightly dividing the Word of Truth... which will assure that our work will not be in vain, or bring God shame.

It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or says once you have an intimate relationship with the King of Kings.  I often say "we can agree to disagree, when we get to heaven you'll see that I was right" LOL
