10 benefits that come from working at Cedar Point - You will gladly get up early to go to church because you had to miss church all summer.
- Learning to smile at guests that are mistreating you will help you learn to love your “enemies”
- Your faith will grow as you see how God is right there with you during the good and bad times, just keep your eyes open for the small things! (Children that say “thank you”, a family consisting of a Father, Mother, and kids playing together, a guest that encourages you by telling you how you are doing a good job, earning the honor of being an employee of the week)
- Being a light in an extremely dark world will become real to you quickly and will teach you that even a light shining by itself can give light to a dark place. ei. The rest of the employees may ignore you because of their guilty conscience.
- You learn how to better appreciate your pastor’s clear preaching of God’s Word when the only “preaching” you can find is at a Catholic Mass that is totally missing the joy of the Lord(I only went once)
- You will be more thankful for home cooked meals when all you’re eating is ramen noodles and cheap hot dogs.
- You learn how to hate the sin but love the person as you learn of the depravity of humanity through your co-workers or guests(I called Cedar Point and Soak City 'Sodom and Gomorrah')
- When calling your family you will appreciate how they encourage you to keep being a hard working Christian in a lost work place.
- As a young adult you may learn how to work for and respect someone that is morally lost. This may be a lesson you may need to learn if you work out in the world. You may not always have a Christian boss.
- You get the wonderful experience of riding some of the best roller coasters in the world and use them as a blessing given by God to have good, clean fun after a hard days work
As a 20 year-old college student that had never worked for any place that wasn't Christian I was very scared when my parents left me in Sandusky, Ohio at Cedar Point the summer of 2002. I was struggling with school, my self-esteem, and thinking for myself. The challenges that I faced were great but my God was greater. I will never again work at Cedar Point but I will forever take the lessons I learned there and try to apply them for today. If you ever want to hear the amazing things God did to and in me that summer come on over to my home and we'll have some fun sharing mocha and "roller coaster" experiences :)! Disclaimer: Should you choose to ever work at Cedar Point for the summer you may meet your future spouse there...I did! |
