Nah!  You're not the last, Mike
I coulda cheated in the food category.  To paraphrase my father-in-law," I only like two kinds of food - hot and cold."

Make that I've seen it in 2 places. :)

Are we supposed to be going around starring all of these?

You know one question on this whole thing defines the reason I don't answer these.

I) Four friends that I think will respond:

And where is the scrapple love?  I really need to move on from the scrapple thing.  I don't ever want to eat it. :p

Oh and when did you stop watching Survivor?  And doesn't "no other TV watch" conflict with the football stuff? :)

I'm rambling.

Time to go.

haha...
yeah, the food was tough to narrow down... I didn't even put down ice cream! Moose Tracks to be specific!

I don't pass it on to friends, I just twist their arms until they do it.  ;-)

Scrapple? Either start eating it or move on. :-)

I guess I'm sitting out this season of Survivor. My better half hasn't taped one episode for me.

ps...No star requirement. But folks who are generous with the star love have been tossing a few around. Still hope to see yours. Maybe even just an abbrev ver.

I'm moving on.  There's plenty of other good meat out there.

Like ribs and hamburgers and steak and hot dogs (the poor man's version of scrapple) and ring bologna and ham and roast beef and beef sticks and general tso's chicken (or sesame chicken) and shrimp.

Well, my friend, I was a proof operator myself for a year or so, until my body started to complain about the repetitious motion.

REALLY?? Wow! Never thought I'd run into another one of those. Do you remember your items per hour? :-)

The Grand Canyon... "no child has ever fallen over the edge!"  Sadly, a 4-year old fell 450 feet to his death this week.   How tragic.  But it IS beautiful.  It's funny... I've not been to the Grand Canyon once since actually MOVING to Arizona.

It's moments like this where need a frappr map for proof operators.  (And only moments like this.)

Oh and for those wondering... No there doesn't already appear to be one

Warning:  I've never tried frappr before, so I may be missing the point. :)

I see you are a football fan... can't wait till the lowly Bills thump the Ravens in two weeks : )

Arlene, I had to cheat to be completely fair to H and J. :-)  Regarding the Thai food, the place we go to has 4 distinct levels of spicyness, mild (gringo hot), med, hot (lev 3), and "native Thai" (nuclear hot). I am working my way up to nuclear!  Rosie, if I had a family member who cooked Thai that well, I'd be finding excuses to eat at their place a LOT!

Kyleen, you're bringin me down, man! When we visited the GC, I asked the bookstore employee that most oft asked of questions... "So how many people have fallen and died in the canyon?" She recommended the book Death in the Canyon, a most fascinating book! Of course the book gives the answer, plus gives details on virtually all of the known deaths in the canyon. Acc to the book, the only child death (until now) was approx 1922 when some guy left his kid in his pickup truck by the edge, and the handbrake failed...... So now they need to issue a new edition, right?

Kristie, no way!!! I'll bet it was a better place back then, too!

I don't remember, Mike.  I was pretty fast, but not the speed demon that some of the others were.  It was probably about five years ago that I quit.  My elbows and shoulder had had enough.  I liked the work, though, in a weird kind of way.  I ate lifesavers while I did it and allowed myself one lifesaver every X amount of items.

Just five years ago? Wow, so you were doing that stuff recently. Repetitive stress injury is common in that work. That job paid my way through undergrad.

I know someone who is a photogrammetrist and a super good one at that. I believe he was a cartographer before his title was changed. He is also the best Electrolux salesman I have ever known.

I thought of another movie that might fit your style - Mister Mom; "220, 221, whatever it takes. . . "

I'll add another star.
"We like Mike."

Why "Buffie", how good of you to join us here.   Thank you for those very kind sentiments!!!!!

Hey Shannon, I cannot be one of the "popular faces" b/c they only use actual photos or original artwork (like the sketch guy). Besides, I must admit that I am no longer cool. Check Kathy's out, she'll probably garner many more comments.

Gene, I could be Mister Mom, really! Except that I would never be anywhere near as inept as Michael Keaton was in that movie. Cmon guys, we're better than that! Thanks for the star, my friend!

lol Mike!  Thanks for the plug!  I have never been to Hoffbrau, but I have had the best beef in the universe.  After spending a month in Argentina, I realized I had never had a real steak before!  All beef is plastic after that!  We actually had a "cow-pickin" one Sunday afternoon.  (Do you "northerners" know what a "pig-pickin" is?)
Mike n Laura
October 12, 2007
Holy cow, a new term! "cow-pickin"? "pig-pickin"? I can't imagine Argentinian beef being much better than what we had down in Texas. I challenge you to prove it! hehe
Kathy
October 12, 2007
Mike, "pig-pickin' is a huge Southern outdoor barbecue "party", with a pig roasted intact.  See Wikipedia's description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_pickin%27  In my few experiences, however, the hog was roasted on a rotating skewer, not lying flat.  "Cow-pickin' is my own term I coined in Argentina, because they roasted an entire cow just like that.  I think they called it something like a Vaquellona.  Best beef, but that's a tough one to prove via the internet!
Mike n Laura
October 12, 2007
"tough one to prove via the internet"  Yep, was counting on that. :-) Hope to make a cow/pig pickin someday!

All this talk about food is making me hungry. I'd love to try one of those Argentina steaks. I have an idea that Kathy is telling the truth. And I'm making a note of the Amarillo place in case I'm ever up that way. My rancher brother used to let us add a calf to his herd every year and he'd take it in with his each year to be fixed and frozen. That was really good. He stopped doing that though, when it became cheaper to buy it at the supermarket than "grow" it at home.

So you're a map maker, Mike?? What kind of maps do you make?

I've decided to join the crowd and have posted my own Getting to Know You Blog at http://www.mychurch.org/blog/77937/GETTING-TO-KNOW-YOU

I blogged mine, but didn't know where it originated...so... here is mine (I know you guys responded Mike, Laura, and Sue! --Thanks)

Its fun looking at everybody's answers!

SERENITY... yup one of my faves too. The writing was odd, and I loved it. Strong characters. I hated to see the pilot (Wash) die, and the shepherd (!) Book die. I'm still upset!

"1.) Sunday night worship service, Calvary Chapel, Redlands"  That must be some service to be on the top of your list.

October 14, 2007
Yeah Hal, I was SHOCKED the first time I watched Serenity, and Wash died all of a sudden. So unexpected. And I didn't even watch the Firefly series. Those who watched the series would've been really shocked!

Got yours, Jack. Man, how many people got it personally delivered like that? You are unique! :-) (in good ways)

Jay!! I'm on to look at yours next, thanks for the link! Amarillo is a lot closer than Argentina! hahaha And I map US coastal areas. (editing my list to include "photogrammetry" the mapping method we use)

You bet Sue, imagine worshiping along with the likes of Randy Stonehill, Ashley Cleveland, Bob Bennett, The Kry, Steve Wiggins, Justin Fox, etc. Even the house worship band was amazing!!

Somebody wake Mike up, he must be dreaming about having a football team again. Luckily, you live close to New England, New York, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. Why the Ravens?
Mike n Laura
October 18, 2007
Why the Ravens??? C'mon Brad, I live in Baltimore! Charm City! The best football town outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin! Actually, there are quite a few Philly, Wash., NE etc. fans here too. But since 2001 Baltimore has been largely able to put the Colts completely behind us.
