| Subdue? |

1:28 And God blessed them: and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. So, today we walked through the beginning of Genesis.
We read it aloud in groups, day by day, like the poem that it was in the Hebrew text...
I was stumbling over "subdue".
It is such a powerful word. A word that creates an image of conquering, dominating, wiping out. At least in my mind.
I kept thinking, "That surely can't mean that."
Then Pastory Bob started discussing how in Hebrew "dominion over" really could have meant "dominion among" or "dominion with" because adverbs were a bit different than in English. So, it might have translated a bit odd. That still doesn't take away "subdue".
I don't really want to subdue anything. I just want to wake-up, work well, and live a good life.
Hmmm... I'll be thinking about this one for a few days.
