Brothers & Sisters, "For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the LORD while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die! ...For I know that after my death you are sure to become utterly corrupt and to turn from the way I have commanded you. In days to come, disaster will fall upon you because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD and provoke him to anger by what your hands have made." Deuteronomy 31: 27 & 29 This was Moses' warning to the Exodus Generation, who had rebelled against God since the day He rescued them out of Egypt. And even when they did obey, it was usually (if not always) because Moses was there commanding them to. You probably remember that the Gold Calf rebellion occurred while Moses was away, as an example. The Lord has and will continue to use people like Moses, to exhort us to do what is right. And the Lord will choose anyone willing to speak His message to you; in the past, He's used priests, prophets, farmers, fishermen...even a jackass (I've personally witnessed the Lord speak through quite a number of jackasses). But if one only does right while 'Moses' is around, it makes you wonder how committed one really is to righteousness. We all ought to ask ourself the following: What righteous thing do I do only when name is around? Do I only follow the Lord when name is present? Rabi Singh |
