I had 11 starts - 151 comments and 734 readss - this is fixed !!!
Theres a much easier way to get it to the top ....mine stays there ,..but doesnt make it to the popular blog list when it clearly outweighs them? |

| If your name isn't mike and Laura or Pastor Tim or Cathy anything, you are not going to make it. They start out their blogs with twenty comments and build from there. No offense to you guys, your blogs are great, but the rest of us would like to get some love too. |

| It might have something to do with how recent the reads are. They may actually have some scheme to make sure we don't just see the three most commented blogs. Wouldn't want people to only see the same thing all the time. |

Yes, it's about the stars and the time which the blog was posted. They only show the most popular in the last two weeks, so they roll off pretty quickly. It seems that you gotta get around 25 Stars on avg in order to stick around there for a while. |

| All the "popular" spots I've read were silly. That may have something to do with it. Most like "easy reading"!! (not all) I would rather have quality blogs to reach those needing truth. If I reach one person and help them. I've done my job!! |

I guess it goes without saying that Golden doesn't star any of my blogs! It's okay, some may be silly but there's a bunch of folks that seem to get something out of them.
No problem, to each his own. I'm doing my work and he's doing his.
Me and Golden have our differences of opinion (as many of us do), but we've discussed them and he seems to be an awesome guy, and certianly worthy of respect. |

| I wrote something about this type of thing...the blog was called Change Partners...Sometime. I notice that some bloggers are simply ignored, but the popular crew draws all of the attention. Even today I noticed a blog that had hundreds of comments, yet someone was asking for prayer re: cancer that had not one comment until I left a little prayer. In addition, I was reading a blog where several folks made some good Christ-centered comments, but were totally ignored becasue they were not amoung the populars. There are some important things being posted by the "unpopulars" This will keep the site active, vibrant, and diverse. |

King,
I have a question: What if there wasn't any stars to be given, or there wasn't a "popular" section, would that make a difference?
I'm still getting the feel of this place, this is only my 2nd month, and I understand that different people blog for different reasons.... some would rather have stars.... some like me, would rather have comments... over the stars. I'm wired differently I suppose... I rather know what you think vs giving me a star...
I'm just curious, what's your thinking (see there I go again) on the matter?

uuummm, so now that you know it's the # of stars - it still is important for you, right? Don't get me wrong, please... as I already said, I'm wired differently. If stars are your goal, it's your goal and there isn't anything wrong with that. I'm just curious.
Funny, but since I posted the question above, I received 3 more stars... now don't get me wrong, I'd say thank you if I could and that's my point, I don't know who to say thank you to. For me, it seems meaningless, it I get a star and can't say thank you.

No I dont care about the stars ,.. I never should have brought it up....
What was unfair was before I KNEW it was the stars they count ...I didnt get why my blog would have 200 comments and someone elses had 30 and they rated better ?T hats it ... theres no ulterior meaning or motive ,..just wanted to have some fun and see if anyone else was curious as well.
You keep saying your wired differently and though you probably dont mean to - it keeps coming out in a sanctimonius way .
Its like the guy that thinks we are on a mission here. Hopefully we'll reach someone who is lost but not likely ,.. hopefull we can comfort a Christian ready to call it quits,..more probable than the former,.. but we do encourage each other and knowingthat other people like wehat you wrote ,.... that is encouraging. Me I get a nice hug from my audiences so I'm here to play (as nice as possible) in the sandbox.

The stars is what does it. The only way the comments come into consideration, is if two post have the same amount of stars. Reads have nothing to do with it.
I see what you are saying. Some of us are blessed to attend a church where people are active on here, and we get a nice "jump-start" from our friends. But I also think the key is to comment/star on other people's post. So if we make sure that other people have stars, and not us, it comes back!
I used to love the stars because they are encouraging, but since I noticed some posting things just to get stars, my opinion has changed. Some people really have writing/teaching gifts. So we will probably see them more. If someone types up a really good post, it normally will get noticed. But mostly it is the people who have the combination of writing skills and take the time to bless others. |
