| Take off the weight.... |

12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, No, this isn't about the kind of weight that may first come to mind... .
I have read Hebrews 12:1 many times, but this time I read it in the KJV and I noticed the use of the word "weight". It says "let us lay aside every weight". I guess I've just skipped over that part and only thought about getting rid of the obvious sin -- but there is more to it than that.
There are things that "weight" us down that we don't usually think of when we think about getting rid of the sin in our lives. Some of the "weights" the Lord brought to my mind were:
discontentment worry gloominess stress/anxiety negativity grumpiness anger bitterness
If we're going to run the race, we can't be weighted down with all that *junk*. We have lay it aside -- toss it out -- get rid of it -- and get rid of those obvious sins - AND THEN we can run the race with endurance/patience.
