AN ANGEL NEARBY

34:7 The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, And delivereth them.

How wonderful to know that we have an angel which stays near, and delivers us from our enemies, and all sorts of evil.   

The interesting thing is that not many of us know what the FEAR OF THE LORD is.   Are we supposed to be in constant fear of God?    I think not!   Remember when you were a child---how you adored your parents?   But, you also knew that they could "lower the boom" on you if you disobeyed.    I tend to think that is how we are to fear the Lord---just as we feared our parents.    Yet, with God, there is an awesomeness that comes with it all.   Like an awesome fear! 

My real dad died when I was little, so my mother raised us by herself.    I can remember that I did not want to disobey my mother, and I did not want to disappoint her.    I cared about her caring about me.   I think this is another way we are to fear the Lord----the fear of disappointing Him!  

Fear disappointing Our Heavenly Father.   Fear the punishment He can inflict upon us when we sin.    Understand His awesomeness, and how this is all because of Him.   We ARE because of Him.   How awesome is THAT?

How awesome is it that we can rest assured that if we fear the Lord, He gives us an angel to encamp near us and protect us?   How AWESOME!   This is another reason we are to have no fear.   We each have an angel nearby.

I used to be afraid of God, but not anymore.  I still fear Him with great reverence, but it isn't the fear that He will strike me dead if I do something wrong.  And I do fear disappointing Him, which makes me want to do my very best.  Good blog.

I love this Psalm!  I am going through a tough ministry time, and I need to be reminded that is God's power that saves me, and not mine.  Also, even in these times of triap and persecution, I am not off the hook in fearing God and being faithful to him.  I also love the mention of our angels...where would we be without them?  Jesus is our eternal angel, and I am so thankful, especially in this season!
