So it's been about three months since I wrote that blog about my "irrational fear" on my MySpace blog and I can honestly say that I no longer fear a romantic relationship. I've done a lot of thinking and praying, and (as some of you already know) I've decided not to date anymore.
This probably doesn't come as a shock to anyone because it doesn't really change anything, but this decision changed my life. I can just hang out with my guy friends and I don't have to worry about "oh does my crush like me" or anything like that. I don't even have a "crush" on anyone! I no longer view guys as the opposite gender, but as equals. I know that sounds weird but there is a difference!
Now, I'm not saying that I've given up on finding love. I've just handed that part of my life over to God. I trust Him more then I trust my own judgment, and I believe that He will bless me with the right guy when it's the right time.
I'm sure many of you are thinking that I'm crazy for thinking that I can pull this off, but I would have to disagree with you. Yes, okay, I AM crazy,(everyone knows that) but that has nothing to do with my decision. I figure why put my heart on the line when I know God will lead me to my "Prince Charming" in the end... Besides, I believe that a relationship should be Christ-centered, and what better way to start a relationship then by having Him bring the two together?! I have full faith in God, and confidence in my decision... I just pray that I know him when I meet him. (lol)
2:19 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. 2:20 I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.
Well, I don't know the reasons for why you did it, but I'm glad you did. Not for the fact that you're giving up on the hassle of men, even if momentarily, but for the fact that you're making a personal stand and sticking with it. That's something pretty cool, not many people can do that.
As I told you yesterday when you informed me of your decision (I'm EXTREMELY proud of you by the way!) I recommend that you, and anyone else in your age group, read Josh Harris' book "I Kissed Dating Goodbye". Josh took the same decision when he was a teenager. He was later blessed with a Godly wife, which led to his second book "Boy Meets Girl". I think too many teenagers spend too much time worrying about whether or not someone likes them or not, and worry too much about being in relationships. I wish I had been brave enough to do what you are doing when I was your age (Actually, I was engaged by then!). I think more young people need to think about focusing on God first, place their trust in Him to provide them with a Godly partner LATER, and just enjoy their teenage years. Lastly, I'd like to pass on some advice Kendra received at a christian concert. We were talking with the fiance' of the bassist for one of the bands, and I asked her if she had any advice for my daughter. She looked at Kendra and said "Make sure you find someone who loves God more than he loves you!"
Hey!!!Wow!!!OK...now that makes me think twice do I want to date or wait and when it's the right time and guy and have God "choose" him for me?Wow OK thanx for opening my eyes!!!I just know one thing...I WILL WAIT(4 a while).
