| Would your writting match your speech? |
|
| |
Would you recognize my speech if I were to come to your Church and Gave a lecture, or even prayed? How many of us would recognize someone that they have never seen by what they say? Many of us here at (my Church) have read countless (blog’s ) from various people, and have grow accustomed to the way that person or person’s express’s themselves, we see a picture of either the person or a design or maybe a blank space where a picture should be, however the only way we began to know that person is by reading that person’s writing’s.
All of us have different personalities and styles of writing, all of us express ourselves differently, many of us try to keep the focus on the things of God the Church, ect, but we must be aware of the things we write to ensure it matches our speech, and life.
In the Bible many people who had heard preaching or teaching from various people could I tell If the words were from God or not. Remember Peter! As he warmed his hands by the fire, the people told him “surly you are one of those disciples for your speech betrays (you!) “Truly people can tell if you are of the fold of Christ by your speech” The enemy is even quick to pick up if your speech is not in tune with God;
Remember what happened in 19:13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. 19:14 And there were seven sons of [one] Sceva, a Jew, [and] chief of the priests, which did so. 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
. These wicked people had heard preaching from the (lips) of Paul about Jesus and thought they would mimic him, But the evil spirit recognized that they were fake, and asked the question “Who are you?” You and I are servants on the battlefield for Jesus, and we have ministries here on (my Church,) we write (blog‘s), and hold up the blood stained banner. Ask yourself a question as I have ask myself. Would someone recognize you by your speech that you have never met? Would they see the writing that you write come to life, as you talk to them?
As I write and ask these questions of you, I am convicted by the Spirit to be more aware of what I write, so I can be sure that my writing’s will match my speech. If the answer is not yes, than you and I should stop writing and pray!
This message has made me go back a re-evaluate myself, I have come to the conclusion that if I am not going to be a Soul winner and an encourager than I ought to put the pin down and go do something else. What about you? Would your writing’s match your speech?

Hi Keith! Interesting thoughts. I agree! But just to make sure I understand where you are coming from, there are many who write far better than they speak. Some even stutter, or get nervous around other people and can't focus their thoughts. You aren't addressing this situation, are you? I am fairly certain you are focusing on cases where people write one thing but practice another, am I correct? If so, good point! |

Their are times when we allow our emotions to get the best of us and what we say may not be the most uplifting words at that time. Peter was foretold that he was going to deny Jesus 3x, and it came true. Jesus also told him that he was going to build his church. Peter had a choice to either wallow in guilt, or repent and keep it moving. I thank God that Peter chose the later.
2 Cor. 10: 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. |

| Definetly food for thought. My hearts desire is to used by God, to do His perfect will, to work each day for Him, therefore, I am definetly praying that my words and actions always remain in one accord. Thanks for this blog, it was an excellent reflective piece. |

| I know I belive what your saying, say if I heard you on the radio preaching a message, ( IDID NOT HERE YOUR NAME< I TUNE IN LATE) and I know Evangelist Keith would preach about Soulwining, so to me it didn't matter if hes was crying in the joy of the Lord, give him praise in worship for all the souls Jesus lead him to I would know it was Evangelist Keith, his wrting does match his speach because he is about his Father's business Soulwining |

| I would say yes because I tend to be very literal. This is not just true of my Christian walk but it is how I have always been even when in the world. People always knew me by the way I spoke which may not have been the best things as I was known to be insulting and offensive, vile and crass, although when facing someone in a crisis I would offer words of encouragement and people came to me for advice. A rather stark contrast but this was my reality. Life in the ghetto is a life of extremes. I overcame my faults because of the Overcomer within me that transformed me so completely there are no traces of who I was, especially in my speech. Only through God are we able to be changed when we allow him to change us. Shalom! |

Mike- Yes you are correct, i am talking about the actions of what we write. Yes there are many who may have problems speaking in public or even get nervous, however the words that they write , and even with a stutter, or inpairment you should be able to tell. "So yes the Action" Terry- That is interesting that you bring out that fact about Peter, Yes he did preach Christ and all was fortold to him by Jesus- And thats the thing "WE have a choice!" IF you chose to write something it should reflect in your speach! Thank you for that insight. Sandee- Thank you for going deep into yourself, this is one of the Key's to the reason for this blog! Not to look at others but to look deep within your self, Self evaluation is always good, this keeps us on our toes. Makelly- I am happy that you hear what is being said from me in my writting as well as talking to you over the phone. This is the place that all of us should be confident about, no matter whitch way we say it , it should match As Mike was saying "our life style" This lesson was for me! and i wanted to share with all, so they would be able to view themselves as well. |

Keith...I am a work in progress...and sometimes my walk is not where it needs to be but I'm yet striving. I have to continue to speak faith over my life even when I'm not best. I look at my children--for the most part--great children...but sometimes their lives don't truly reflect the Christ I know that's inside them..b/c I know what my husband and I put in them...I still speak life and faith over their lives.. and that's what I do for me..I have to self evaluate my walk...and always...Always, my blogs are written for ME first before anyone else. |

J- Thank you for being who you are in God, It tells by your comment that you are confident of who God has made you to be, "This is a good thing" Keep on striving for Jesus! Carolyn-We are all works in progress, and i am glad you made the comment that you "write for yourself first"this is something that all people should be aware of not only what they write but alsoin preaching , teaching, and more! A great teacher is a person who is always learning, and one of the greatest things is getting it tought from the Master himself. |

2 Corinthians 10:10 (NIV) For some say, "His letters are weighty and forceful, but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing."
Over the years.....
One time I was asked to teach a Wednesday night bible study at my church. I was focusing on the Pool of Bethsaida with the five porches and all the people there waiting for the stirring of the water. In the KJV the word "impotent" was used. In another version the word "invalid" was used.
Impotent means not potent in my simple mind. A christian who is not potent is living below his potential or power.
Invalid means not valid. Many christians are crippled because they have been invalidated by the words and actions of others.
The idea was to start the lesson with what words mean.
Dis obey means not obey.
Im possible means not possible.
Dis courage means not courage (that's another blog).
I was doing okay until I asked what impotent meant. In a setting where most are 60+ I guess that word is not one that is easily discussed, especially in church. It was like someone turned a switch off to many sitting there. I don't know why I have not been asked to teach Wednesday night bible study again. :)
One summer I worked closely with the migrant workers in the fields making boxes. Well, one Sunday the place where I was to go was near a church. So I got there two hours early and worked really hard to stay way ahead. Around time for the church services to start I took a "lunch break" and went to the church.
Unknown to me I was so full of the Holy Ghost that no one could see me. Not one person would even look at me. I guess being quarter Cherokee and wearing work clothes and looking much like the migrant workers, well, no one wanted me to feel welcome. The warmest thing about that church was the air conditioning. After the preaching no one shook my hand or invited me to come again. I was still "invisible". But I was thankful to have been in my Father's house.
That job was preceded by a prolonged time of unemployment and poverty. I lived in a house without electricity. Did a lot of bible reading during the day. At night all there was to do was go to sleep or hitch-hike to revivals. I went to over fifty different churches that year. I am thankful for the experience for without the hardships I would never have been able to enjoy the blessings. And they were abundant.
Yesterday I got my teeth cleaned at the dentist's office. Gave the hygeniest a copy of Eagles and Butterflies. She read it and said it was an awesome poem. We talked a little and then I looked at her. There were "almost tears" in her eyes. She repeated, "Awesome poem," patted me on the shoulder and left the room.
When she returned she mentioned the thing in the sand (Footprints in the Sand). How that GOD is always there we just don't always know it.
"Whenever I have surgery I want to be put out, under anesthesia. Now when I am under I cannot see the surgeon, I cannot hear the surgeon, I cannot even feel what the surgeon is doing. And I am very happy for it to be like that.
I think a lot of times when we don't hear GOD, can't see Him, can't feel Him that GOD is "operating" on us. Working to bring about healing, fixing things inside of us that we cannot fix ourselves."
I just love it when the Holy Spirit puts a word in your mouth that your mind had no idea was going to come out. :)
I do believe that we often suffer needlessly as we fear the "unknown". Several weeks ago I finally got a diagnosis for a condition that has affected my health for a long time. About a week ago I had a liver biopsy. I knew in advance that I was not going to be put under for this procedure. It really wasn't bad at all. I suffered much more the few days prior as I worried and fretted over how painful it was going to be.
In my Father's house I am easliy mistaken for a servant. I never impress anyone with my countenance, my speech, or my intellect. I am more comfortable washing the feet of one weary from the journey than mental dueling over the scriptures. Ministry is not something we do it is something we live.
.....peace..... |

Again, well stated my dear heart. So many times we rarely live what we preach about, so it is refreshing and eye-opening for you to address the issue. We need to take a close look at the walk, the talk, and the writing, b/c trust me, the people who not yet come to know Jesus are looking very closely to see what it is we say we live and what we are actually doing. In all we do, we should exemplify Christ. We are His people, we should strive to please Him all we do and say.
Keep on writing and talking and living the life. |

10:10 For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved. I wonder how many times our lips deceive us? 21:23 He who keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.
And if we do that n writing, its still true! |

This is something that all of us who write anything at all for the Kingdom have to do...evaluate ourselves on a regular basis. I know I have seriously struggled at times with my speech. As I grow older and see God work in my life...it becomes a little easier, and I am becoming more patient. It truly is amazing to see first hand, the work of the Lord, not only in others, but first, in ourselves.
Your blog was right on.

| Good writing here Brother and it should cause us to reflect on ourselves. I pray every day before my feet ever hit the floor that God will direct my paths and speak thru me in all I say, cause He knows who will come across my path before I do. I want to give glory to God about a obedient servant walking the walk and talking the talk. I patronize a gas station here in my city, but have really never spoke to the lady behind the counter about Jesus except by saying "Have a Blessed day or God Bless You", but one Friday when I paid for my gas she asked me to pray for her 16 year old daughter, (who has cancer and it is disfiguring her face due to the muscle damage), I was very touched that she wanted me to pray cause she knew I was a child of the most high, and she said she felt in her heart that God had sent me to her station so I could pray, cause she could feel His annointing on my life. I PRAISE GOD!!!! Nothing I have done but what God is doing by me being a useful vessel. See that is the key, you got to let God use you in all things and be obedient, then let Him guide your paths and let Him speak thru you in all things. Then your writing and talking should be about the same, although my writing is better in some regards cause I am a country girl and some of my talk has got that southern style added to it. lol Praise God!!!

Yes, my writing matches my speech. My speech (teachings) also matches the bible.
We are to speak as Christians and follow true bible teachings. We should not compromise. Peter denied knowing Jesus for he feared that they would do to him as they did to His Lord. We too are affraid sometimes. Afraid of percecution or worse. But it's better for the body to be destroyed than the soul.
Many want popularity, so they will preach fluffy sermons that tickle the ears.
I assume that most people on MyChurch are already Christians so I do not preach the Gospel. I preach and teach true bible doctrines. Doctrines you don't hear much from the churches, but from the Bible.
We are to be witnesses for Christ in all words, actions; 24/7. Worship in Spirit and in Truth. Worship is a life style, not an event.
Good post.
Blessings.

Esther- Thank you for your kind words, i am so glad you have gotton to pray for the gas station attendant,One part of our wittness is be consistant, and although you never spock to her about Christ, she was able to see Christ in you. "Praise The Lord!" Hope- I am so happy that your writting matches your speach, this is something all of us should strive to have. We must always act in the way that the Spirit leads us. Yah- Thank you for hearing the voice of God, and my prayer for all of us is that we continue to walk in him. Smile- We wan't to always bring Glory to God in everything we do. I am happy that you are not a luke warm Christian, It is fine time we have more people living this life and not just talking it. Thank all of you for your comment's and i pray that we all do what thus Sayeth the Lord. |

| People would see me as a shy person, but still one that is ready to pray for them and willing to love them. I get excited about being in Sunday school and I sometimes cry in Church during service because of an overwhelming feeling I get of God being there with me. Its hard to explain but all I know is that the tears I shed in church are all welcomed tears. The only difference there is between myself and the way I write things here is that here I don't get angry, in reality I struggle with anger sometimes, here I can make a prayer about something sound so nice, in reality I couldn't pray out loud at all because I don't know how to pray out loud unless I am in my home doing it like Jesus knows I do which is more like having a conversation with him, I've always wanted to know how to pray aloud like the people in My church can but I think the shyness stops me at times. But anyway I am really no different at all. I care, love, and pray in real life just as I do here in my blogs. I'm sure a bad day or two will pop up here too as they do in my real life. I just keep praising Jesus for the good in my life and even the bad too without it I wouldn't be able to cherish the mountain top highs he gives me in my life. |
