| I have never written a blog before so this is my shot at it. I started homeschooling my daughter this week. She has been asking me for a while, but I didn't feel it was the right time. As I was listening to Focus on the Family earlier this week, I realized that the changes that are happening in the public schools are really starting to concern me, more than they had already. I prayed and God said OK it's time. My cousin has given me some info, I found printable math worksheets online, and am trying get familiar with all the info out there. I not great with surfing the web and finding what I am looking for, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want my daughter to learn that God is really in everything and living with a relationship with Christ is more exciting and fun than anything the world has to offer. Kudos to all who take the time and effort to give to their children this education. God Bless you all. |

Hi! I'm a Homeschool Veteran...Four Kids (two boys, two girls). They are all working 20's and 30's adults now, three married (two with children, one currently expecting), one adult single. All attended private or public college, two graduated and are seeking additional education, the other two are planning to continue. They each developed very unique and genuine gifts, with various personalities. Each accepted the Lord at a young age, developed and grew through church ministries, served in church ministries, took a few challenges and hits in the teens and young adult lives, but are still growing and progressing in many directions. Are they perfect...no way! Would we have homeschooled if I could go back and do it again, absolutely!! They are learning and growing in Christ, sometimes the hard way, but they know He is real and where to go in life's circumstances. They love life and learning, and they are good working citizen's. The older boys are definitely considering homeschooling as a possibility for their own children (currently preschoolers). The glory goes to the Lord, for my husband and I lived on our knees in prayer...so many times. We "blew" it sometimes, and He fixed it or is in the process of fixing it! They all love to worship! They know who deserves our worship (in various music styles)!! What more could any mother and father ask??
Great source for homeschool info is CHEA a primarily Christian homeschooling organization and network in California, with national and international ties. They have State and Area conventions on a regular basis, with Exhibit Halls, Homeschool Teaching Certification, and classes for interested parents, teens, homeschool families, etc. Also, Homeschool Legal Defense Association (National) is great for legal advice, defense, insurance, and political awareness...they work up to the Supreme Court level. They also spearheaded the development of a private Law College back East, and intern programs for graduating homeschoolers. ABeka Curriculum is a great source for beginning homeschoolers. They have video schools, too, for those who desire more structured environments for their schoolers. Many charter homeschools are public school connected and developed. Some private schools offer umbrella programs to homeschoolers, with various services available. Every State is different in legal alternatives, so do your homework in developing your homeschool program.
May God bless you all in your homeschooling endeavors.
