Focus: Fundamental aspects of praying that gets results
Definition of Prayer: Prayer is communicating back to God what He has already said in His Word. It is the act of bringing God into every situation and showing our dependence on Him as we acknowledge Him in all things. Prayer involves speaking and listening...the person praying speaks and allows God time to speak also as he listens.
Step 1: Decide What You Want From God, James 1:6-8 (Jesus is the key to unlock the door to heaven.
Step 2: Read Scriptures That Promise the Answer You Need, Joshua 1:8 (Being discipline)
Step 3: Ask God for the Things You Want, Matthew 7:7,8 (Know what you want, standing on what you want)
Step 4: Believe that you receive, Mark 11:23,24 (Must see it first and then it goes into manifestation)
Step 5: Refuse To Doubt, James 4:7 (Get rid of all that does not contribute to God, stay Faith Filled)
Step 6: Meditate on the Promises, Proverbs 4:20-23 (The Bible says it , Believe it, that settles it) Step 7: Give God the Praise, Philippians 4:6 (Thank Him for it, Faith talk, Faith words)
Establishing a Quiet Time With God
A quiet time is a daily time you set aside to be alone with God to get to know Him through the Bible and prayer.
The purpose of a daily quiet time is: To give glory to God, Psalm 29:2
To get direction from God, Psalm 25:4
To gain delight in God, Psalm 37:4, Psalm 16:11 (ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR HIM)
To grow more like God, 2 Peter 1:3-4
The objective of quiet time is not to study about Jesus Christ, but to actually spend time with Him - Acts 4:13
How to begin a daily quiet time
Select a specific time (the best time is when you are most alert)
Choose a special place, Luke 22:39, Mark 1:35
Gather the resources needed (Bible, journal, pen, music)
Begin with the right attitude
A. Reverence, Psalm 46:10
B. Expectation, Psalm 119:18
C. Obedience, John 7:17 (REVELATION TRUTH / KNOWLEDGE TRUTH
Two things to do in a quiet time:
1. Consider your way, Proverbs 3:6
2. Commit Your day, Psalm 37:5
