1. my 2 big dogs,
2. if no.1 leaves any room in the box, my spiritual journals from the past few years,
3. my thousands of photographs (you did say a BIG box) and the digital camera
4. maybe the art quilts I've made and still have, plus all the fabric stash to make more
5. whatever cash I have on hand, which would take VERY LITTLE space in the box.

That is a tough question.  I would have to say my computer would be first because most of our recent memories are held within it in my photo archives.  I suppose I would want the CD's that I transfered many photos to as well.  There are several boxes of older photos of our family when the boys were young.  My Grandmother's dishes that are displayed in our china cabinet, she bought them with money she saved from her first job and rolled the barrel they came in down the street to get them home.  I recall eating many thanksgiving, Christmas, and new years dinners on those dishes when I was little and get to continue using them regularly.  Of course I would make sure my family were helping me carry the box out of the house.  I really can't think of much else I would want to bring along.  Most other things can be replaced.
Thanks for encouraging us to think about our  belongings and what is truly important.
peace

GB~God's truth and good memories, good choices!

Sande~you caused me a panic - I forgot my digital camera!!! That is a must have so I can document my journey and illustrate my writing. But then if it isn't in my hand, it is on top of that bookcase I packed so maybe I am alright after all. I'd like to see those art quilts and your fabric stash!

Glenn~sounds like you, too, put a high value on relational and heritage things.

All I can say is that You must have a BIG BOX!!  I've started to give my things away...  Less is best.  I've sorted photographs and we (the girls and I) are going to scan them and make books so that all of have our memories.

When it comes down to it at the end, God, love and memories are I want

The most important things to me besides my husband and my bible, are my cats...since I have eight of them, I guess I will have to cram them all into a big box.  If disaster struck though, they would be the ones I would want to save.  No thing in my house is worth as much to me as them.  Everything else can be replaced.
