Just some pretty much random thoughts here....sorry if its rambling! We travelled to Chesapeake, Virginia this weekend to see family and celebrate my daughter's third birthday (where does the time go??). We stopped in at our old church to visit and were welcomed so wonderfully. It was good to go there as "visitors" - it had been about 8 months since we've seen folks; there were many new faces, and we were welcomed - by folks we knew (not as/by strangers, I mean). It was like falling into a warm bed or something. Everyone wanted to know how we liked the mountains, if we were planning to come back (yeah, RIGHT...NOT!) and what was it like. I'd go on for pages trying to describe the differences between a county with a population of about 13,000 and a metro area of 1.7 million - not to mention the sheer beauty of the Alleghanies, the deer population, the bear population, the great people here....they just wouldn't get it.....it was good to be missed, though.......... But its even BETTER to be HOME :) We love you all!!
Right now, God is teaching me something about materialism. That, and salt and light. I'm not exactly sure what the details are, but He has brought the matter to my attention several times these past couple days. I'll have to write more on that later as I learn what He has to say.
3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Hannah and I have been memorizing these verses....but how do you really teach this - what it really means - to a 3-year old loaded with presents from th'grammas?? Hmmmmm.... Sounds like its time for toy conservation....
Well, I gotta go. There is a popup advertisement on the right 1/5 of my screen advertising "smiley central" and it is too distracting for me to think. I don't know how to turn it off, so look for more from me later.....and I'll make my own smileys :-)
Thank you for reading!
