Was Jesus Guilty of Nepotism?

To add a comment to "Was Jesus Guilty of Nepotism?"

I think Nepotism has a negative connotation to it in our society, even though the word is neutral.  Nepotism just means "favoritism based kinship."   That isn't necessarily a bad thing.  We only hear about the situations where it's abused.

Wow...I did not even know what "Nepotism" was before I read this post.
I so am impressed by the two comments.  I think of how neighbors, families, and friends use to just come together to help each other out during the weekend, or week evenings.  Start a garden by someone showing up with a plow...putting a roof on a barn, when the light was shown in to bright for the cows...do you know about this stuff?
I think family businesses that add employeees that become friends, and sometimes relatives over time, is how the America's as well as the "Old world" was built.
Grant...what is it like in your culture?

We are the same.

This comment is not exactly on topic but as I read the title of your post "The Christianity of Christ" I was reminded of something that was brought to my attention not too long ago. The following statement may startle you at first, I know it did me:

Jesus was not a Christian!

Agree?

I quite agree! He was the Christ! Christian ought to mean follower of Christ, but what is too often the case is that Christians first follow a man, or a fad, or a tradition, and following Christ is somehow buried under all that stuff. Christians ought to FIRST follow Christ, and then if there's room for anything else, that is fine, but Christ is the Head of the Church and NO ONE else.
