this car looks just like the one my dad had its a 1966 plymouth valiant i was born in 67
I was born in the sixty's yea the hippie era. but it was also a time where parents had to do some major damage to their child for it to even be considered child abuse. If you got on your parents nerves you got hit up side the head. God forbid you really got into trouble then you would either get the belt or a what my parents called a good keen hickory. Parents also didn't think twice about going shopping and leaving there kids in the car. Lets not forget standing up in the seat with my arm around my dads neck going down the road or siting in his lap while he was teaching me drive. If you were poor you made toys out of any old junk you could find. My cousins would stay at home alone, while their parents were at work I know they couldn't have been no older then 7 years old at the time. The main rule we were peached was don't speak unless you are spoken too and don't bother mommy while shes on the phone. And what ever you do do not pitch a fit in the store. Life for a child back then was hard. But even so life back then was a lot safer then it is today. People could sleep with their doors unlocked or even wide open. kids could go to school with out fear of getting shot and gangs were rare. I never even herd of gangs until the mid 1980s. We didn't have video games and we were lucky if you got 3 channels on the tv. And at 12 am the Tv stations went off the air. But we did have something kids of today don't have we had Saturday morning cartoons and every day from 3pm to 5pm we had cartoons and the 3 stooges and the little rascals. The only magical show that came on was Bewitched . We lived for those moments. We spent our free time playing out side building things and just plain getting dirty. And bed time was when ever the sun went down. We hardly ever got any junk food. I remember the first video game I ever seen was pacman on the Atari systems. There wasn't such a thing as cordless phones or cell phones. And I never even herd of a home computer. If you were lucky and your parents had some money you got sent to summer camp. I only went once but I loved it. But I never told my mom that. I was talking to a friend the other day and I was shocked to hear that most of the things I enjoyed as a kid are now considered illegal for kids. Like shooting a BB gun or the good old sling shot. I was 6 years old when my dad gave me my first pocket knife and taught me to whittle. I was cooking bacon and pancakes by my self by the time I was 8. kids today have a lot more then we had back then but they get board a lot easier. And a board child is a child thats gonna end up getting into trouble. And the law keeps parents from straighting these kids out. These kids most often put good kids at risk. And doctors and the school system are not helping things a bit. If a kid is acting out they claim its a mental disorder and the child should be on medicine. Back when I was a child these mental disorders were almost unheard of. Back in the day parents dealt with these so called disorders with a hickory switch. And almost all of these kids grew up to be normal adults. People we need to stop and take notice these new rules are not working we have kids killing kids. Now lets talk about the music. It use to have meaning. I was one of the few kids in my day to listen to rap. I loved rap and even the heavy metal was good. Now most of it is vulgar and just plain nasty. Just a butch of people complaining and disrespecting each other. Looking back at how bad it was in my day and seeing how life is today. If I was given a choice to being a child of the 60s-70s or being one today I would not change a thing. I cant help but wonder when todays children grow up what will life be like for their kids or even their grandchildren its a scary thought
