Originally posted by Fr. Vazken 11/1/07: Hi everyone, “Movies have the power to inspire. You have the power to act.” – that’s the call for the new movie, “DARFUR NOW” and it opens tomorrow night. FRIDAY, November 2: A group of us saw a screening last week. We were pleasantly surprised to see that our post-card campaign with Gov. Schwarzenegger is featured in this movie. But even more important (VERY IMPORTANT) is that the movie shows what WE – you & I – CAN DO something about something as terrible and tragic as Genocide. It’s an inspiring movie and I highly recommend it. We will have a private screening for our organization in the next few months, BUT… because the world runs the way it does, it’s crucial to see it this weekend (opening weekend) to count for the ratings. Please go to our website www.inhisshoes.org for the trailer and link to the movie. Get show-times and then go! For those of you in the Los Angeles area, I’m hoping to attend the later show Friday night- in West Los Angeles. If you’re interested in going – please join us there. SATURDAY, November 3 Gor Mkhitarian’s video “About God” – featuring the In His Shoes 7x77 conference – has been nominated for a film award. The showing of the music video will take place at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood at 3:15PM. There’s more information the award as well as a power-packed weekend at http://www.affma.org/ SUNDAY, November 4 If you’re in Glendale, join us at the Youth Ministries’ Center, where we’ll be honoring a very special young man, Harout Mekhdjian, who tragically passed away last year. Following services at church, the St. Peter Sunday School hosts a luncheon, sponsored by Harout’s aunt Sonia Ashkharian and family. We’ll remember Harout with prayer and thoughts. Finally – CONNECT with us Join our electronic community at “My Church” and stay connected and exchange information about all our activities and happenings. To join, just go to our website: www.inhisshoes.org and click on the “My Church” icon at the top of the page. Its fast, fun and definitely the connection you’ve been looking for. Please get the word out about these and other activities that are coming up. Share the news. I look forward to seeing you soon. --Fr. Vazken Movsesian |
