| Pursuit of Happyness: A Movie You Won't Forget |

 I rarely add a movie to my list of all-time favorites, but when I saw Pursuit and Happyness this week, I knew it was the exception! If you haven't yet seen it, I highly recommend it, as a movie that may shape your thinking and leave a mark on your soul.
Based on the true story of entrepreneur/millionaire Chris Gardner, the movie follows the struggles of a homeless single father trying to raise his son in 1980's San Francisco, while pursuing the grand dream of becoming a stockbroker. The story evokes tears of sadness and tears of joy, as it takes the viewer through a real daily struggle not uncommon to so many in the world around us. A rags-to-riches story, yes, but even more a story of determination and hard work and a story of human potential.
Will Smith performs his best role ever as Chris Gardner, and his real life son Jaden plays the younger Christopher. Their chemistry is inspiring, as is the rest of the film.
This 2006 movie is rated PG-13 with good reason, however, and I don't recommend it as a "family film," as it has some brief language, and the subject matter is too intense for children. For teens, however, and adults, it is a must-see movie! Add it to your Netflix queue, or put it on your Christmas list!

I could not agree with you more on this movie. It is a great movie and Will Smith is excellent as he shows us how easy it is to slip over the edge into dispair. It gives a great glipse into a world most of us will never know. Thanks for posting your review. |

| Have it, Blockbuster, 4 for $20.00, added it to the group. Was really impressed, and I also thought Will Smith was great, amazing how he's quietly become one of the best.BTW doesn't Amazing Grace come out soon? |

| Kathy, I agree with your comments. The whole family (my children are all teenagers) loved it. This was very believable and well portrayed by Will Smith. We enjoyed it in the Theater on PPV as well. |

Thank you Kathy for bringing up this movie. I had always wanted to see it as soon as it hit the theaters, but I never made it. Just this past week I saw that it was on the Starz network channels so I recorded it. I will make it a point to watch it this weekend and I will be sure to post my thoughts and/or opinions about the movie. |

Awesome movie Kathy!! It sends out a message that I am sure alot of us can relate to. Having dreams, doing what it takes to achieve those dreams, geting ahead a couple of steps only to have circumstances knock you back a few and yet still having the desire and drive to follow through to achieve those dreams. It teaches us to never give up on those hopes and dreams and that we can achieve anything if we want it bad enough.

I bought the movie and watched it awhile ago. I agree. It is a great movie. There are few movies that I really want to own, since I normally would not watch it a second time. However, this one I will watch again. I am a member of a Methodist church. Therefore, it was recommended early on to the congregation due to the mention of the Methodist church that helped Will Smith. A friend didn't want to see it because she felt it would be depressing, but, it ended up not being so. It is so uplifting in that, with our faith to help us, we can pick ourselves up from rock bottom.
