Amen Brother Patrick. I agree that we are to be separate and not conform to the model of the world. I heard a Pastor say in front of a congregation that he would go into a bar with a few brethren and have beers while sharing with people inside the bar. Some would say that this is acceptable behavior, but Lord rebuke the devil, how can we expect people to be transformed if we begin to do what they do? God forbid. Shalom

I have no issue with bar-room minstries.  But a minister is fooling him (or her) self if they feel that buy acting like those they are trying to reach it will somehow knock down a barrier.  I might as well drink a beer from the pullpit...why not?

Ministry w/out true accountability is catastrophy...and the collateral damages are unimaginable.  The fact is, that guy just wants to have a beer.  Let him have it, he ain't getting anything else done.  Thanks Jay.

hmm this is a tough one.
lets see... instead of doing what the rest of the world or in my particular case the rest of my classmates do, i prefer to do things more christ-like. Such as instead of spending friday and saturday nights in bars or parties drinking like I am often (being a college student) invited to do, I usually spend in spare time I have Praying in the Chapel at St. Benilde. Another example is instead of doing what many others are doing at my age when it comes to sex I prefer to wait til marriage. It is all in the everyday decisions I make. I prefer to live for Christ not for the world. Therefore I find it to be my duty to please him not my peers. To go by his standards and not by what others think the standards should be. In more simplistic words I choose not to stray from the word of God and to not conform to the ways of others who are not Christ-like, but do my best to devote my time to Christ and praise him every chance I get ... in which makes me in my oppinion not of this world.

im not sure if that makes any sense.. I'm kind of tired and just thought I'd share my thoughts lol.. it makes sense to me.

Keri, I think that was...outstanding.  Very well put.  And though we are saved by grace and not works (thank God) our works should reflect His grace.  This society especially is difficult to seperate from since many of the churches have excepted the culture.  That will never be ok to God.  Keep on separating yourself to Him...in that you cannot go wrong

I agree.. as it is stated in Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever" what is accepted in today's culture is not always accepted by Christ. I try my best to keep my faith strong, and there are times that are more difficult but with Christ I get through them! =]

It is a difficult thing but definitely worth striving for.
