Hebrews contains a through description of Jesus as our great high priest and mankind's once and for all perfect sacrifice for sin, It also includes and addresses the extreme importance of faith in our lives for the new covenant, for the new covenant is experienced through faith & includes the "Hall of faith" in CH. 11 and such well known verses as Hebrews 12:1, and 13:28" My study of the first Chapter of Hebrews " Everyday life principle: Jesus is superior to everything in heaven & earth. In Jesus, we are reminded that we have the best possible covenant. When we Have Him, we have everything we need. The blessings of the NC (new covenant) are made real in our lives through faith" In Verse 1 The author of this book(unknown) started out by telling us in several separate revelations & indifferent ways God spoke of the old(our forefathers and prophets) in the last days, He has spoken to us thru the Son, whom He appointed Heir and Lawful Owner of all things; also by & thru whom He created the worlds& the reaches of space& the ages of time(verse2) Verse 3 is a glorious precept, telling us how Jesus is the sole expression of the Glory of our Father& Jesus is the perfect imprint& very image of God's nature, upholding& maintaining & guiding & propelling His mighty universe by His word of power. When Jesus had, by offering Himself accomplished our cleansing of sins& riddance of guilt(Rom 8:1) He sat down at the right hand of the Father. Verse 4-6, explains how Jesus took His place& rank by which He Himself became as much superior to the angels as the glorious Name which He has inherited is different from & most excellent from others(angels). Verse 5 goes on to explain further the question, did God ever say, Today I've begotten you? You are my Son- to the angels? Heavens no! (see also IISAM 7:14, PS.2:7) Verse 6 moreover goes on to say when God brought His only begotten Son, again into the habitable world, Jesus said, let all the angels of God worship Him. Verse 7 says, referring to the angels, Jesus said God, who makes His angels winds and His ministering servants flames of fire(see PS.104:4) But as to God's Son, in v8 He said to Him O God is forever & Your kingdom is ruled by Your Scepter of absolute righteousness forevermore- infinite going on for eternity. Going further in v9, Jesus says God loved uprightness (delighted in integrity, virtue, in & of purpose according to His Perfect Will). God hates lawlessness. Therefore, God(even) your (Godhead) has anointed me with oil of exultant joy and gladness above & beyond His companions(friends)(us!) see also PS. 45:6-7 Verse 10-12 the author tells us of hoe God created the foundations of the earth & heavens in the very beginning(Genesis) v10 & v11 lets us know we will perish but God lives infinitely. v12 reiterates His glory and majesty that will never change- He is the I am as He was in the beginning- is now- & forevermore.( see PS.102:25-27) to end the 1st chapter v14 reads, are not the angels all minis tiring spirits(servants) sent out in the service of those who are to inherit salvation? my thoughts and amplified verses of JM Bible |
